“Home away from home”
Reviewed 28 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

I stayed here with my 13 year old son for 3 nights. We holiday in Coorg quite often, and this was the most enjoyable holiday we have had. Here's why :
For one, you stay in the actual planters' bungalow, and not an annexe as is often the case. We had the entire property to ourselves-the bungalow, the beautifully maintained gardens and the extensive coffee and pepper estate as well. The bungalow is well mantained and has everything you require,
Vishal was an amazing help- he had practical solutions for anything we required including our numerous changes of schedule, and not only arranged our rafting and wildlife sanctuary visits, but also our trip to the local boarding school which I was keen to check out for my son. We even got bonus unplanned surprises and great travel advice from his extended family. All in all, because of the warmth and friendliness extended to us by Vishal and his family, throughout the trip we felt as though we were visiting our extended family.
Hussain, the caretaker is friendly, and can rustle up just about anything--his fish fry and coconut and rice puttu are beyond words!
The only drawback to some may be the lack mobile connectivity, (apart from BSNL) though to my mind it is a positive since it helps have a truly stress free holiday. For any emergency, Hussain's BSNL mobile is available, and once you are on the main road, about 1 km from the estate, pretty much all services work.
I can't rate Woodland high enough--it deserves every bit of its ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating.

“Relaxing holiday in a Serene Home and a great host”

We were a family of 7 adults & 3 kids who stayed at Woodland Bungalow during June 2016.Right from the time I reached out to enquire availability Vishal was patient, honest and hospitable as a Host and manager.

He guided us with advice & help throughout our trip not only in Madikeri but Karnataka (We did Bangalore-Kukki-Madikeri-Mysore-Bangalore).He and his team @Woodland are really hospitable and go out of their way to make our stay pleasant.

The estate is a beautiful Planter's Bungalow and thankfully represents exactly whats shown in the advertised photos. With estate grown vegetables, garden avocados, cherries, mangoes the food is typical homestyle cooked by ever smiling Chef Hussain.Butler Venkata Ramana was ever present to attend to our needs.

This place is best suited for families who want to relax in the lap of nature on a Coffee Estate and trips to the Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary and Waynad Sanctuaries.
(Other places in Madikeri are still doable as daytrips.)

I rarely take time out to write a review for hotels I stayed at,(Post holiday schedules are always busy ;) )however for our Coorg trip I extensively used Trip advisor to study the options and chose Woodland that suited our taste, needs & budget. This is my first review on TripAdvisor.

“Great Holiday at Coorg”
Reviewed 10 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Great place, spent 2 nights and three days in tranquillity. This time we were nine of us with our parents ( 80 year+) and two pets .We all had great time . Place is simple, deep with in beautiful trees, coffee plantations all around, comfortable rooms ,neat and clean, good homely food, pet friendly, and the top of it super hospitality by Vishal. Drive was decent, roads were good , 6 hrs from Bangalore plus half and hour of break in between.

Wonderful time spent at Woodland, with 7 family members and 2 dogs! Its tranquility and serenity is almost unmatched. The butlers are very kind and loving, go out of the way to ensure everyone is comfortable.
Time well spent. I will be back soon,
Thank you, Woodland!

note: Cellone is the only service which has network coverage there, but the home phone can be used to make calls

“An idyllic retreat in a stunning setting”

When we arrived at Woodland Bungalow, we were overcome by the tranquil beauty of its setting. The house is spacious and comfortable. Vishal, our host, welcomed us with hospitality that was "over the top" including a tour of his coffee plantation, and Hussein's cooking was excellent. All in all, a most enjoyable two days for a multi-generation family including a two-year-old.

“Wonderful Woodland!”
Reviewed 5 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

A group of 6 of us friends stayed at Woodland Bungalow over a weekend in Jan. We had a fantastic time unwinding amidst the beautiful coffee estate, indulging is the great hospitality of our host - Vishal and digging into the delicious food.

The bungalow is tastefully done up and exudes an old world charm with all the modern amenities (including huge luxurious bathrooms!). The hosts have taken care to include a host of activities - we sat by a bonfire late into the night and played cricket one evening. They have a selection of great books and board games too if you are so inclined.

We even saw a fair number of wild animals on our drive in and out of Coorg - from wild elephants and boar to flying squirrel, peacock, barking deer and of course loads of spotted deer!

There is no cell connectivity (save for BSNL!) so switch off and enjoy the chirp of birds rather than the incessant beep of you phone!

“Quaint woodland”
Reviewed 27 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

My husband and I visited kutta and stayed at Woodland Bungalow in November .
The crisp clean air , chirping of birds , rustling of leaves is all there is to be heard. The silence that surround woodland is surreal .
Rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are large enough for a family of three.
Hosts ,Viahal and Aparna made our stay even more special . Their warm and friendly demeanour adds to the charm of the place.

Hussein , who is the care taker cum cook makes the most amazing coffee . Freshly ground , strong and very Coorg.
Long walks without destination or purpose, just lying back on the lawn and soaking in the silence , catching up with self , reading a book and dozing off and waking up to coffee ..... Just q few of the many things that one can do at Woodland. It has grown into me . Created a longing to go back again and again and again....
