Leighton Moss has a beautiful range of habitats and wildlife, so it is always worth a visit. It is easily accessible from the M6 at Carnforth and from Silverdale station. Regardless of what wildlife you see, it's worth a trip for its excellent cafe and shop, staffed by friendly volunteers. We will be back.

Well equipped reserve, kids enjoyed the holiday quiz. Hides were clean and in good condition and paths easy to walk on, only thing the place lacked were birds, other than coots and swans!

We went in the day time and returned in the evening to savour the beautiful scenery in different light settings. Got some excellent photos. Fantastic place with lovely walks between hides. The staff are helpful and the visitor centre has a great shop and a lovely cafe with great cakes. A wonderful day out with the chance to see a variety of wildlife. It's only a very short walk from Silverdale train station if you take public transport.

We called in again to see what might be around having been inspired to get out there by springwatch. We started to wonder why we even bothered with the television as we watched young avocet chicks amongst the black backed gulls and oyster catchers. Down at the public hide we saw an otter and a kingfisher then with a short walk to the other hides we saw red deer and marsh harriers.
It was just fantastic - like a full programme of springwatch all at one place. We think this is probably one of the best reserves in the UK - you never know what you are going to see but there is always so much.

We visited this reserve several years ago and revisited yesterday. We had forgotten how good it is. The staff were friendly and welcoming and explained the facilities clearly. The hides are very comfortable and well maintained and the paths through the reserve are easy to walk and well signed. There is also a lovely café where the food was excellent and good value, and a shop selling quality RSPB items. This time we also went to the hides along the road where you can look out over the top of Morecambe Bay. The tide was low and there was an excellent variety of waders. In the reserve, as well as the birds we had expected to see we saw a marsh harrier, egrets and red deer. We won't wait so long again before we go back.
