Great value; clean, comfortable, characterful room with excellent modern bathroom. Excellent traditional breakfast; some fruit would have been nice to make it perfect. Evening dinner in restaurant very good value with quality ingredients. A refreshing mid week break. Great base to explore the area and great for walkers. Thanks to Darren, Amanda and son.

Myself and my partner stayed last week for two nights at The Coach House. After reading previous posts (after booking, but before travelling!) I was a little concerned but I really didn't have to be! We had travelled up a few days previously and done a little travelling around Windermere and then came across, arriving at around 5pm. We found the car park around the back and went in and got shown to our room. We were told about the rear access so could easily bring our bags in rather than carrying them around. Our room was lovely - open beams, huge bed, lovely bathroom, and ever so clean. Once we had got ourselves sorted we decided to eat in the pub itself - Grill Night - the steak was beautifully cooked and superb value (and a free glass of wine with it!) Breakfast doesn't start until 9am, but we were down at around 0850 and our order taken for the cooked part and cereals were laid out along with juice, tea and coffee, and we didn't have much of a wait at all. We heard no noise at all when we arrived back at 2200 that evening (Friday evening) and we had to leave early the next day so just had juice and cereal but the owner came out and gave us some toast too which was totally unexpected as we were so early, but very much appreciated!! I would absolutely recommend staying here, it is in a lovely location, with easy access to lots of places. As I mentioned, we had travelled from Windermere and it was an easy journey, and also travelled to Skipton and Keighley while we were there. All of the staff and owners were all ever so friendly and helpful, excellent value for money and a lovely location. Will definitely be back!! Lindsey and Gareth

Stayed here for three nights. Arrived just before 2 p.m. But could get no reply to locked front or telephoning no. In window. Someone eventually appeared at about 2.15 pm and helped us out and to check in. Turns out it was Connor the chef, who seemed to do a lot More than cheffing. On being shown into our room to find the bed hadn't been made up or carpets vacuumed but this was sorted by 5.00 pm. You only get what you pay for ! The food, especially the breakfasts were out of this world, Conor has a real talent. We had one meal on a Thursday as it was steak night, rib eye and a sirloin, (£10 each inc. glass of house wine) cooked perfectly by Connor, again. By the way in the restaurant Gent's toilet there was no toilet seat, a lid but no seat. How can someone overlook that running a pub. Never again, great value but never again

We recently stayed at The Coach House for two nights and very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well decorated. The breakfast was excellent and very fresh. We decided to eat in the restaurant on the 1st night of the stay, the food was that good we ate there again the next night. Friendly staff and plenty of free cark parking to the rear was a bonus. Previous reviews mention noise from the bar, I can safely say that we heard very little noise coming from the bar and nothing that could have been considered a nuisance. The Church clock does chime on the hour and I did hear this a couple of times, probably because we slept with the window wide open, but it was not a problem. We defiantly will stay here again and would recommended The Coach House to anyone.

We stayed at this lovely charming inn about the end of August 2013, we stayed three nights.
The staff were helpful & very friendly, one thing to remember that the car park is actually behind the inn it's not a problem however it better to be aware.
We ate at the inn on two nights, the food is excellent & good value!
We found the place very clean & the bed was soooooo comfy, we were in the room that had recently been refurbished -very nice too, however the only criticism I had is that the room was very small , next time we go i will as for one of the larger rooms.
Fantastic value for money & a landlord with a WICKED sense of humour!!

Wifey and I stayed here for a couple of nights on a Woucher deal. This is an old coaching inn and as soon as you enter the bar area, there are nooks and crannies with open stonework and ancient timbers. The pub is popular with diners, although we didn't eat there ourselves.

The room (Gaping Gill) wasn't huge, but it wasn't cramped either. The bathroom (with a brilliant shower) was up a couple of stairs, and the slightly irregular layout gave the room character. The other rooms looked a little larger and had open beams, so ask for one of them if that's your thing.

The breakfast was cooked to perfection, but is no good if you need an early start as it's not served until 9am. The out-of-hours access is via the fire escape and back yard - handy for the free car park, but the fire escape was slippery when wet.

It's a Robinsons pub, and was serving Unicorn ale. A bit overpriced at £3.45 a pint when the other pubs in the village are selling quality beer for £2.90.
