“A peaceful and comfortable haven”

Howard's Barn (HB) is well situated being just a few minutes' stroll from the village of Arkenholme and easily accessible from the M6. On arrival, I was met by Toni who explained and showed me where everything was. HB provided everything I needed (including hi-speed wifi) and most importantly was quiet and comfortable. I stayed at HB for 4 weeks while working locally but enjoyed lovely weekend walks in the surrounding countryside. I would definitely stay here again.

“Excellent comfortable place to stay for a quiet retreat with great views”

I stayed here while visiting relatives nearby, so primarily needed a bed and somewhere to relax in the evenings, rather than a home from home. However this is a very well-presented holiday home, very comfortable, with everything anyone could possibly need, including Freesat TV, a DVD player, and WiFi. There is even a small torch attached to the key ring, useful as street-lighting is not something found here! It is well-situated in a quiet area, but is a short drive from the M6 and within easy reach of many popular tourist spots including the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and even Blackpool! The owners are unfailingly helpful and very willing to suggest places to visit and things to do, and there is a useful supply of local information in the property, including maps and guidebooks.

As it is a small one-bed flat it is really only suitable for couples or singles, and its first floor position might make it unsuitable for people who have any mobility difficulties, especially as there is also a small internal staircase between the bedroom and the rest of the accommodation (including the bathroom). But this is a small disadvantage in what is really a most excellent property to which I will certainly return!

“A quiet corner of countrysidde heaven”

We had such a good week at Howard's Barn, from the very first moment we arrived to a warm welcome from Tony. The property - a converted barn - is very pretty and exceptionally well arranged and furnished. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom sensibly laid out, the kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of space to either work or laze around.
There are fantastic views of the countryside and the hills from all windows, and the village (with a post office/shop and a pub) is a few minutes' walk down the road. You can go on pleasant rambles from your doorstep, or walk to town for the bus which (every two hours) can take you to further pretty towns down the road.
We had a very comfortable and relaxing time, and enjoyed exploring the nearby River Lune, and dream of coming back again.
