We had arrived in Manchester on a late plane and drove home to Yorkshire attempting to find a pub that would serve us pub food as we went along. It was a bank holiday and 'they were sorry, they stopped serving at 8' and so on - until we tried the Punchbowl on Low Street in Burton. This is only two miles from my home and I had never been there before. We will return! The welcome was warm and there was a cheerful atmosphere inside with several people still eating. Service was friendly and the range of food was good. I brought home the take away menu which has scampi, haddock, pizzas and curry on it but in the pub we were served a fine bottle of red wine with our gammon steaks, roast potatoes, scampi, chips and salad. It is a lovely little pub off the main 'drive through' street, with only a few parking spaces but well worth a visit.
