“Great to see the rafflesia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 September 2012

It was really amazing to see two rafflesia, in this my third visit to the park. Previously I had only seen the rotten aftermath of these 'flowers' as well as the younger buds. Overall the park is a good place for trekking, though don't expect to encounter much wildlife. This is not Bako.
My only slight gripe is that you really need a guide to show you where the rafflesia are located.

This costs 30RM which is quite pricey, on top of the park entrance fee of 20RM (for a non malaysian) When asked if we could spot the rafflesia without a guide, they said it would be 'very unlikely' This is possibly true, however they werent located that far from the park HQ and with a brief explanation they might have been able to explain to us. The guide was ok, but he only showed us round for about 30 mins or so - showed us the rafflesia's and a chameleon. For the money, I think you could be entitled to a bit more.

“Must visit!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2012

The National Park is at Lundu, 1.5 hours drive from Kuching. The park is well maintained, with different types of accommodation to suit the budget. As the other visitors have mentioned, do call in advance to check whether there are any Rafflesias in bloom.

We had a guide to lead us directly to the Rafflesia, and it was well worth the RM30 paid for the entire group. This does not include the entrance fee of RM10/adult.

“An excellent place for jungle trekking and a week-end BBQ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2012

Gunung Gading National Park is located at the eastern tip of the state of Sarawak, East Malaysia. It is one of the smallest national parks but it boasts itself of the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia. The quietness and tranquility of the natural surrounding makes it a perfect place for a family week-end BBQ after a nice work out of jungle trekking. The day cannot be complete without a cool refreshing bath under the waterfall. It's simply the place for a week-end hideaway!

“I saw a Rafflesia!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2012

This is the only place in Sarawak where you can view Rafflesias from the Tuan-Mudae species. But do call and ask if there are any blooms before making the trip there, or else you may be disappointed.
The one we saw had 6 leathery petals and was 65 cm in diameter. It didn't smell as bad as I expected.

“Great hiking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2012

It's a great weekend away from the hustle town. The entrance fee cost us RM10 per person (adult). We all managed to hike until Waterfall 1. Very easy hiking until Waterfall 1 as all the signboard are very clear. Great view, clean/clear/cold water and a great place to relax with friends. I can see the unclear water at the downstream (that's why we decided to hike only until Waterfall 1 as we do not have much prepare for hiking). No electricity in the shower room (near the camp site). We do enjoy it and hoping to hike until Waterfall 7.
