Just returned refreshed from a 4 night stay at y stabl. We arrived early and were welcomed straight away. Cottage is lovely, price was amazing for four nights there. Weather did let us down it rained for four days solid but we managed to still get out and visits the local areas including three offs bay and the mumbles. Would defiantly recommend to family and friends. Extremely comfy beds...every thing you need is provided eg towels, dishwasher tablets.
We did have to get a taxi to the nearest pub, but it was £2.60 so can't complain and we saved ourselves getting soaked :)
Thanks swansea cottages for
A relaxing girly break.

We were a group of 8 mountain bikers visiting Afan, and stayed in Y Stabl and Bwthyn Y Saer, both of which were fantastically appointed and very clean. Whilst staying for one night only we walked into town and visited the Butchers Arms which was great. We will definitely return!

We agree with you! The Butchers Arms in Alltwen is our favourite local pub - ideal place to unwind after a day of mountain biking at Afan Forest. Really pleased you enjoyed the cottages and look forward to welcoming you in future.

A fully equipt home with everything you could want for a perfect stay.
Clean with added touches most never think to supply.
Suitable for any age . either a romantic getaway or a base for adventure. It''s stunning surroundings offer the chance to see birds of prey and many other birds. within in a short drive stunning views of the sea and mountains.
Rain or shine we found something to do whatever our mood.
But with such a beautiful cottage curling up with a book or film with a babbling brook and owls for background ambiance was just as good as any adventure. Last but not least an outstanding comprehensive written guide from the owners which gives you all the information you could need and far more.
Y Stabl was perfect . Thank you Rachel and David for our wonderful stay.

Apologies for the late review, but I feel it's important to let you know what a special place Y Stabl is!

Last year, in September, we came to stay at Y Stabl on Plas Farm for over a week. I especially wanted a quiet, calm environment, as my working life had been quite tumultuous over the months. Y Stabl did not disappoint - within five minutes of our arrival, I felt completely welcomed and at home. The owners are lovely people and went out of their way to make sure we wanted for nothing.

Every need was accommodated, both upstairs and down. I was especially impressed with the kitchen amenities, including the teabags and coffee provided, and have to say that one highlight was eating breakfast in the kitchen. I also appreciated the 'green' sensibility and we were encouraged to recycle, everything from the usual to kitchen scraps for compost. (I have purchased a compost bucket and composter for my home in America thanks to the example of Y Stabl.)

The reception (living) room was also quite comfortable, and the back garden with the stream was just lovely. I enjoyed hearing the stream, especially after periods of heavy rain. One day was spent 'at home' as the rain came down outside, but the wood burning stove (wood provided) made sure that we were warm and relaxed.

The upstairs was roomy and comfortable. My friend stayed in one room and I took the other. Clothes storage was roomy and accessible, and the Welsh woolen blankets were a treat on chilly nights. The bathroom was also spacious and incredibly clean.

There are trails around the farm and it's worth a hike or two. We ate in a lot and so didn't get down to Pontardawe except to Tesco's, but that was fine. The owners of Y Stabl provided a wonderful notebook of suggestions and possibilities, and I intend to take advantage of them the next holiday.

I've traveled a lot over the years, and when it came time to leave Y Stabl, I cried. I stood in the kitchen and went to tears because it almost hurt to leave. It had become home, refuge and restoration all at once. It is now my benchmark of what this type of holiday should be. I hope to make it back to Y Stabl at some point.

If you have any chance to stay at any of the Swansea Valley Holiday Cottages, it will be a treat. But Y Stable will always hold a place in my heart!

What a wonderful find. We stayed at Plas Farm in both Ystabl and Ty Cerbyd for 10 days in March. We were very lucky with the beautiful weather but it would not of made any difference. Both cottages are lovely and warm and cosy in idylic surroundings. Rachel and David are the perfect hosts - nothing is too much trouble. They have a wealth of information of things to do and how to get there. The black folder is the most comprehensive information book we have ever come across. The Plas Farm walk is right on the doorstep/ Swansea and Cardiff very easy to get to - good Park and Ride services. Inside the cottages are well equipped with everything you need for a holiday home. Very clean and comfortable. Outside in the garden is the perfect spot to unwind and relax. we will certainly be back again and again. Thank you.

We stayed 4 nights in January, you'd think the weather would be inclement but it was fine! we had two wet days but both were filled with one of the huge varietys of activities from the black binder. There were scenic walks, jazz nights (not in the binder!), quality food and loads of stuff we didn't get a chance to do! all within a few miles, Even if you don't leave the confines of the farm their are beautiful walks literally on your doorstep. Friendly couple running the place, helpful, informative and generous. wouldn't change a thing. If you want a family adventure or a romantic trip full of log fires and fun this is your best bet. Reasonably priced for the level of comfort. defiantly stay again. Thanks!
