The stay was fantastic from start to finish. The location is lovely on top of a hill away from any settlements with an amazing aspect. The directions to the bed and breakfast were very clear and easy to follow. On arrival we were greeted with an amazing piece of cake and tea which is just what we needed after a long cycle ride (there was secure storage for our bikes). The room was immaculate and very large with a king size bed, sky TV, and a bathroom with a bath and shower (with robes provided). We were given the option to pre-order an evening meal which was served to our room (although you could opt to eat it in the dining area). The food was home cooked and yummy. Breakfast was equally delicious and portions were plentiful. The only negative aspect of the trip was having to leave! If you want a relaxing break to get away from things this is the place for you.

we loved staying at Hermitage court with jayne and Chris. They were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect at it was quite central to visit all parts of the isle of wight with a short car journey and they have a fantastic view of the countryside. The rooms were bright and spacious and the food was delicious. We felt very well looked after and that Jayne and Chris really wanted us to have a relaxing and special holiday. I would definately recommend the stay to others and we hope to be visiting again

The welcome is very warm, and includes a pot of tea and home-made cakes. The rooms are very comfortable indeed, being roomy and well-appointed, and have lovely views over the quiet valley in which the house is situated. Breakfast is real home cooking, and dinner is available if wanted. There are two excellent self-contained suites, comprising bedroom, toilet and bathroom. There are many walks available from the front door of the house, including up to S Catherine's Oratory, and to the coast. We have been twice to this B&B, and will definitely go again.

The house is in a secluded location, but not isolated, so easy to visit other places. A bonus, is that if walking you can start from the house, without having to drive anywhere. The room we had was excellent and there was nothing that was missing from it, nice touches like a small fridge with fresh milk and water in it. Choice of breakfast food was extensive and well cooked and presented. If arranged beforehand it is possible to have an evening meal, which we did and again the food was very good. Chris and Jayne were very attentive without being intrusive and always ready to give advice on places to visit. We had a really enjoyable stay and look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: We did not see other rooms, ours was excellent

Spent two nights at Hermitage Court. Despite arriving very late were given a lovely welcome. Beautiful rooms, home baked biscuits, fresh milk and mineral water in fridge. Delicious breakfast served in a dining room with picture window. Rural location so great for walking. Chris and Jane are the perfect hosts. Probably the best B&B I have stayed in.

Jayne and Chris made us feel completely welcome after a hard day's cycle with a cup of tea and some biscuits. Luckily we had decided to opt for the evening meal which meant that we didn't have to venture into the village in the pouring rain. All food was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were incredibly generous ; our accommodation was big, light and airy with a lovely ensuite bathroom. We were very well looked after and I would highly recommend Hermitage Court Farm and can't wait to go back! Thank you Jayne and Chris.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hermitage Court Farm is the Isle of Wight’s most secluded and tranquil Bed and Breakfast accommodation: the ideal place in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern living and relax for a while between the green of the downs and the blue of the sky, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Perched cosily under the tops of the National Trust’s St Catherine’s Down, and gazing down over the beautiful rural Isle of Wight countryside towards the waters of the Solent, the ten-acre Farm is hidden away, well off beaten tracks and more than a mile from the nearest main road, on the southern side of the Island. From here, and from the Downs at our doors, you can see everything ... yet hear nothing but the odd rabbit thumping across the lawn, a pigeon chortling, or the woodpeckers dining in the trees. Our peaceful surroundings, however, hide the opportunity for plenty of action. The Downs of the isle of Wight are full of history-from ancient burial mounds and a medieval lighthouse to one of Britain’s most amusing Victorian follies - and full of opportunities for leisurely exploration. A network of the Island’s well-known bridleways and footpaths crosses various parts of the property, and there is direct access to over a hundred miles of the finest and best-maintained footpaths, riding tracks and mountain-bike trails in Britain.A twenty-minute stroll across the Downs (or a very much shorter car trip) brings you to the nearby village of Niton, with its charming shops and friendly pubs, while a little further on you come to the famously picturesque village of Godshill with its much-photographed thatched roofs and celebrated cream teas. The Isle of Wight coastal towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor - famous as holiday venues from Victorian times -- with their glorious beaches and their cliff walks are just a short drive away. ... more   less
