Neither of us had been to the IoW since childhood so finding a b&b was never going to be an exact science. It will be from now on - we fell in love with the Hermitage, in its tranquil surroundings with gorgeous views south toward the Downs and the nightly drive back through the fields and the badgers. Loads of badgers!
Jane makes an amazing breakfast and we also had salmon and eggs one morning - lots of choice, best b&b breakfast we've had by a country mile.
We stayed in the Niton Suite - excellent en suite, lush views across the south of the island, fresh milk in the fridge, lovely biscuits, a detailed information pack for the IoW, lots of room and even a private lounge. Which was nice :-)
Jane and Chris have got it all covered, even down to having Ordnance Survey maps of the island available for their guests. We can't wait to go back ;-)

Last year my wife underwent brain surgery to remove a tumour. She is not able to commit to a "holiday" at present, so we are making short breaks to nice hotels. Most of them have been booked through Travelzoo. I am now catching up with the reviews on Tripadvisor.

We live on the Isle of Wight and booked the Hermitage for our wedding anniversary last October. We upgraded to a mini suite which was very comfotable .The meal was excellent as were the owner and staff

My wife and I have just returned a wonderful few days at this superb bed and breakfast. As keen walkers and nature lovers, the house on St Catherine's Down gave us the perfect location, with beautiful scenery and fantastic views. We really appreciated the peace and quiet and traffic-free walks on the many local footpaths. The accommodation was of the highest standard with a large modern ensuite bedroom with stunning views in two directions. Hospitality was excellent. Jane was very friendly, and always available for help and advice. The mouthwatering sponge cake on arrival made us feel immediately at home. It was a short break for us, but one which leaves us with many memories of lovely walks, banks of primroses, lambs, pheasants and singing skylarks. We intend to return. Thank you Jane.

Chris and Jane made sure we will feel at home, the rooms were lovely, breakfast was amazing and the views from our window were out of this world. when the sun is out and if you are a person who enjoys hiking that's the place for you. It's not close to the water front but assuming you brought a car with you its only a short drive away.

Gorgeous farmhouse, Jayne was the most amazing host, very friendly and attentive, and her Victoria sponge was to die for. Breakfast on both mornings was worth getting up for too.
Our first visit to the island and we will be back again.
Thank you again Jayne for a wonderful stay

Fantastic weekend away at Hermitage Court Farm.
Arrived in one of the most "tucked away" places on the Isle of Wight
for our 25th wedding anniversary. What a fantastic location. The views
are amazing.

Jayne greeted us when we arrived and made us the most light and fluffy
sponge cake served in the dinning room. We sat in the window and
couldn't stop gawking at the view.

We stayed in the Niton room. It has a separate lounge area with a
fridge and a sofa. I really enjoyed sitting in there in the evening
reading my kindle.

The farmhouse has free wifi which was great because we could use our
ipad. The room had an ipad dock too which meant we could charge it
overnight.

Great breakfast both mornings. Try the fresh fruit salad. "Yummy" also
the full English is a must.

Excellent value for money and Jayne arrange a discount car ferry
crossing for us.

We will be back in the summer with our son and daughter in law.

Nearly forgot. We saw a family of badgers walking up the farms road
one night on our way back from the pub. We had never seen badgers up
close before.

Keep up the good work.
George and Sal

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hermitage Court Farm is the Isle of Wight’s most secluded and tranquil Bed and Breakfast accommodation: the ideal place in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern living and relax for a while between the green of the downs and the blue of the sky, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Perched cosily under the tops of the National Trust’s St Catherine’s Down, and gazing down over the beautiful rural Isle of Wight countryside towards the waters of the Solent, the ten-acre Farm is hidden away, well off beaten tracks and more than a mile from the nearest main road, on the southern side of the Island. From here, and from the Downs at our doors, you can see everything ... yet hear nothing but the odd rabbit thumping across the lawn, a pigeon chortling, or the woodpeckers dining in the trees. Our peaceful surroundings, however, hide the opportunity for plenty of action. The Downs of the isle of Wight are full of history-from ancient burial mounds and a medieval lighthouse to one of Britain’s most amusing Victorian follies - and full of opportunities for leisurely exploration. A network of the Island’s well-known bridleways and footpaths crosses various parts of the property, and there is direct access to over a hundred miles of the finest and best-maintained footpaths, riding tracks and mountain-bike trails in Britain.A twenty-minute stroll across the Downs (or a very much shorter car trip) brings you to the nearby village of Niton, with its charming shops and friendly pubs, while a little further on you come to the famously picturesque village of Godshill with its much-photographed thatched roofs and celebrated cream teas. The Isle of Wight coastal towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor - famous as holiday venues from Victorian times -- with their glorious beaches and their cliff walks are just a short drive away. ... more   less
