If you are looking for a tranquil and peaceful stay in idyllic surroundings THIS is the place! The superlative accommodation matches the stunning views. Located up a hill off the beaten track with views across to Portsmouth and Chichester. A short and easy walk to St Catherines Oratory will reward you with amazing wildlife and flowers with far reaching views across the Island to the Needles, Cowes and beyond to Southampton Lymington and Portmouth.
Hosts Jayne and Chris could not be more accommodating friendly and ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. They helped us with suggestions to make the most of our stay on the Island and happy to check any details to help plan your day, The breakfast is fantastic. The rooms are of a high standard spotless and comfortable making the stay feel luxurious and special. Would have no hesitation in recommending HCF. We will be returning.

We have stayed here before and I am pretty sure we will be staying again in the near future. Jayne and Chris are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast sets you up for the day and the view on a sunny day is splendid. The first thing anyone staying here will notice is the peace and quiet. Also if you get the opportunity make use of the sun deck. We enjoyed more than one bottle watching the sun go down.

We had forgotten how beautiful and relaxing HCF was until we visited again recently. The area is truly stunning and it is soooo peaceful, you can feel any stress lifting as soon as you arrive. The air is fresh off the sea and there is plenty of wildlife for nature lovers. There are numerous delightful walks from the door step. The room was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are absolutely delicious. Chris and Jayne made us feel so welcome and although we only stayed 2 nights, we left feeling as refreshed as if we had been away for a week! We've already booked to go again.

We stayed here in July, after a very hectic and stressful 12 months my husband and I wanted just a few days peace and quiet and this was definitely the place to be. As in all the other reviews I can't rate Hermitage Court Farm and Jayne and Chris highly enough, both the accommodation and they were amazing. Every little detail has been thought of, we were in the St Catherine Suite which was lovely, comfortable and light and airy. The views from the garden were breathtaking and the cup of tea on arriving was very welcome, and the most enormous piece of cake was even more so! Jayne makes the most fantastic cake, worth the visit just for that.
We live in Devon and do a lot of walking but on this occasion had decided to come to the Isle of Wight not for the walking but for just to relax and do a bit of sightseeing, I wish I had taken my walking boots as just looking at the view made me want to explore it, so that will be a future trip.
Nothing was too much trouble for Jayne and Chris who I wish we had time to talk to more as they were so friendly. The breakfasts were fantastic, and plentiful, we had to downsize on our second and third days, plenty of choice and as vegetarians we were catered for perfectly, and Jayne presented them so beautifully. To anyone looking at Hermitage Court Farm and comparing to anywhere else deciding where to stay all I can say is discard your other choices and book here as fast as you can, you will not be disappointed. It was just what was needed, peace and quiet and we came home feeling very refreshed. Thank you Jayne and Chris, we will see you again in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in the St Catherine Suite which was downstairs, I didn't see the others but the standa...

Excellent says it all

Stayed here in June - the hosts were amazing - lovely people kind and helpful - made us really feel at home which is not always the case in BnB!

The rooms were very comfortable and the property is in an amazing setting with great views .

From our point of view this accommodation is highly recommended.

Good food and every convenience.

Room Tip: 3 rooms available - we chose ground floor - light - spacious and very well appointed - but two on fi...

As others have said it is hard to know where to start...this wonderful property is set within the most beautiful and idyllic countryside and offers anyone looking for a relaxing break everything they could possibly want.
Jayne & Chris have the most amazing home that is presented to its visitors immaculately, yet it doesn't feel clinical and offers all the homely extras. After several long hours on the road we arrived in the peaceful surroundings of the downs, a little early I called Jayne to see if we might book in. This was not a problem and within minutes she was greeting us in the garden with a fantastic "Wedge" of Victoria sponge and cup of coffee.
Other than the surroundings you will come to realise that nothing is too much trouble. Jayne did all she could to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. One of the first things she suggested we do was to take a stroll over the downs to see the “Pepper Pot” (a 14th century Oratory), this is a must and once you get on top of the downs you will see why! Apart from the view if you are a nature lover like myself you will find all sorts of wildlife. While on my trek I was lucky enough to see a young badger frolicking in the grass – one of those Kodak moments. Luckily I had my camera ready and got the snap….
We spent 3 nights staying at Hermitage Court every one of which I slept like a baby in their very comfortable bed. The room was equipped with all the modern items you’d expect but was furnished to complement the style of the cottage. The room also came with mini fridge stocked with milk and bottled water with an array of hot drink selections on top – this was all restocked daily which was another nice touch. Following a great night’s sleep breakfast was a treat in itself with the choice of fruit salad, cereal, toast or a traditional English breakfast all of which were equally as tasty and as good as you try to be it is hard to stay away from the later.
There is so much more I could say about this wonderful B&B but I would advise you to experience it for yourself and create your own memories. It is safe to say though that this was by far the best break I have had in a very long time and have returned to work fully rejuvenated. I will be booking another break at Hermitage Court Farm again very, very soon.

The location of this place has to be seen to believed - I have spent a lot of time on the IoW but discovering this area around Niton was quite incredible. The views are amazing - whether the weather is bleak or blazing!
The B&B itself is immaculately kept. The beds are very comfortable, and the peace and quiet is incredible. Home-made biscuits to go with the tea and coffee in the room were a highlight (I am still thinking about them) and the breakfast was absolutely amazing - huge amount of choice, beautifully cooked. Jayne has paid careful attention to the quality of the ingredients and it really shows.
Jayne and Chris themselves are welcoming and attentive, and we spent a fair amount of time putting the world to rights... I'll have to book another trip just so we can finish our conversation!

Room Tip: We were in suite downstairs (name escapes me) and you could hear people moving around upstairs when...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hermitage Court Farm is the Isle of Wight’s most secluded and tranquil Bed and Breakfast accommodation: the ideal place in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern living and relax for a while between the green of the downs and the blue of the sky, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Perched cosily under the tops of the National Trust’s St Catherine’s Down, and gazing down over the beautiful rural Isle of Wight countryside towards the waters of the Solent, the ten-acre Farm is hidden away, well off beaten tracks and more than a mile from the nearest main road, on the southern side of the Island. From here, and from the Downs at our doors, you can see everything ... yet hear nothing but the odd rabbit thumping across the lawn, a pigeon chortling, or the woodpeckers dining in the trees. Our peaceful surroundings, however, hide the opportunity for plenty of action. The Downs of the isle of Wight are full of history-from ancient burial mounds and a medieval lighthouse to one of Britain’s most amusing Victorian follies - and full of opportunities for leisurely exploration. A network of the Island’s well-known bridleways and footpaths crosses various parts of the property, and there is direct access to over a hundred miles of the finest and best-maintained footpaths, riding tracks and mountain-bike trails in Britain.A twenty-minute stroll across the Downs (or a very much shorter car trip) brings you to the nearby village of Niton, with its charming shops and friendly pubs, while a little further on you come to the famously picturesque village of Godshill with its much-photographed thatched roofs and celebrated cream teas. The Isle of Wight coastal towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor - famous as holiday venues from Victorian times -- with their glorious beaches and their cliff walks are just a short drive away. ... more   less
