“Fantastic views and warm welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2010

We stayed for two nights in this high quality B and B and had a wonderful break. The owners Jayne and Chris welcomed us with tea and homemake cake. We needed it after a long and winding road up to the the farmhouse. The room was spotless, beautifully laid out and spacious with wonderful views over the IOW countryside.
Jayne was very helpful with excellent recommendations of where to find good food locally. She also provided a tasty, wholesome breakfast in our room. We chose fresh fruit salad (a huge portion) and tasty porridge and boiled eggs.

I would highly recommend this place and we are hoping to return soon.

Hermitage Court Farm is a wonderful B&B - from the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. The tea, coffee and cake on arrival was a nice addition to the service and a great way to unwind after the journey. The views are incredible and the B&B is situated in a lovely quiet area.

We stayed in the Stenbury Room. It was beautifully presented, very clean and plenty of tea and coffee provided. The fridge was an added bonus! The breakfasts were wonderful too - delivered to your room at a time of your choice - heaven!

We came away feeling very relaxed - thank you. A lovely way to spend a weekend.

We had a great weekend in this is delightful get-away. It's off the beaten track, surrounded on all sides by countryside. We walked stright out on to one of the footpaths, up the ridge on to the downs, with sea views, then back downhill to a stream, fields and copses. Our room was large, light, extremely comfortable and immaculately clean. Hosts Jayne and Chris could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast was extensive and delish.
Go for it!

I'm taking the time to write a review because this was one of the nicest places we stayed while touring England and France. Jayne was a wonderful host in all regards. The location may not be as easy to get to as some, but well worth the little extra time to get here. I enjoyed walking the pleasant trails adjacent to her property. The St. Catherine's suite was very clean and nicely appointed and very comfortable overall. Jayne was more than willing to make us more comfortable with some extras requests we asked for. The breakfasts we were served were very good and presented beautifully. I was really impressed by this quaint little bed and breakfast and it's gracious hosts. Highly recommended!

Amazing B&B with lovely hosts in a beautiful location. We were very pleased with all aspects of Hermitage Court Farm from the lovely greeting from Jayne and Chris and welcome tea and lush victoria sponge to the spacious and comfortable king size room.
Located at the end of a country lane, the views are outstanding - really peaceful. We slept so well in the comfortable bed and quiet surroundings.
Breakfast in the garden was top class with a proper fruit salad and choice of cooked items. My husband had scrambled egg & bacon at all favourite B&B and he declared it one of the best ever. Will book one of Jayne's evening meals next visit in October.
Gorgeous walks from outside the house, it is a paradise for walkers and cyclists. Jayne and Chris are fantastic hosts, most helpful on recommendations for enjoying your visit.
Looking forward to our next visit in the Autumn to this very special place.

This is my third visit here .. and each time I come I stay longer and longer and longer..

Its a farmhouse, perched high on the National Trust downs in Wight, with just two B&B suites .. the sort of delightful, unpretentious but expansive comfort you always dream of finding but so, so seldom do ..

The quiet is only broken by the odd rabbit galumphing across the lawn.. the view out to the sea is stunning .. you are surrounded by miles of green walks or horse/cycle circuits .. and if you green walk just 25 mins across the tops, you are at the friendly village pub of Niton ...
With a car you are even closer to the 'life' of other nearby villages or of pretty Ventnor.. and, of course, the whole lovely island is within an hour or two's reach..

This is what we in the theatre call 'a rave' -- I don;t give them often, but here its 100 percent deserved ...

Oh, did I say that this year Ive booked in for ... two months? So you can't have my suite till August.

Just back from a brilliant weak at the Hermitage Court Farm. The house has magnificent views over rolling hills, lovely fields and farmland. We are ramblers and enjoyed wonderful walks from our doorstep.
Both rooms are lovely and spacious. The ground floor suite has a full bathroom with shower over AND a cloakroom, lavender toiletteries and a super kingsize bed. The first floor room has great views over the Downs and is very bright. No bath but a spacious shower. Bathrobes and free wifi connection are provided in both rooms, a nice surprise and quite rare to find in any B&B.
The hospitality is amazing, thanks to Chris and Jayne; they make you feel 'at home' from the moment you arrive. All their suggestions on walk, pubs and things to do were spot on. Breakfast in served in your room, which we thought is a great idea, as you can enjoy it wrapped up in your cosy bathrobe at the time of your choice - and it is superb! One evening we were too tired to go to the pub and Jayne cooked a lovely, simple but tasty dinner for us, another great option.
Sitting on the lawn enjoying the views in absolute peace and quiet was heaven. Overall an excellent B&B for walkers, cyclists and people who love to be away from the 'maddening crowd'.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hermitage Court Farm is the Isle of Wight’s most secluded and tranquil Bed and Breakfast accommodation: the ideal place in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern living and relax for a while between the green of the downs and the blue of the sky, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Perched cosily under the tops of the National Trust’s St Catherine’s Down, and gazing down over the beautiful rural Isle of Wight countryside towards the waters of the Solent, the ten-acre Farm is hidden away, well off beaten tracks and more than a mile from the nearest main road, on the southern side of the Island. From here, and from the Downs at our doors, you can see everything ... yet hear nothing but the odd rabbit thumping across the lawn, a pigeon chortling, or the woodpeckers dining in the trees. Our peaceful surroundings, however, hide the opportunity for plenty of action. The Downs of the isle of Wight are full of history-from ancient burial mounds and a medieval lighthouse to one of Britain’s most amusing Victorian follies - and full of opportunities for leisurely exploration. A network of the Island’s well-known bridleways and footpaths crosses various parts of the property, and there is direct access to over a hundred miles of the finest and best-maintained footpaths, riding tracks and mountain-bike trails in Britain.A twenty-minute stroll across the Downs (or a very much shorter car trip) brings you to the nearby village of Niton, with its charming shops and friendly pubs, while a little further on you come to the famously picturesque village of Godshill with its much-photographed thatched roofs and celebrated cream teas. The Isle of Wight coastal towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor - famous as holiday venues from Victorian times -- with their glorious beaches and their cliff walks are just a short drive away. ... more   less
