Jayne and Chris made us most welcome. Our room was spacious, comfortable and warm with everything we might need and with wonderful views. As we were with family we requested breakfast together rather than in our separate rooms - this was willingly done for us and was delicious.

Chris & Jayne are from an airline background and provide first class service in their beautiful country farmhouse. Stunning views, immaculate big rooms, superb catering ( plus evening meal if required ) and a really friendly welcome. Its a 5 star hotel in a family home. A couple of miles up a private road next to a farm with easy access to footpaths, historic sites and masses of wildlife just outside the windows. Safe parking for the car and you can even fly a ( quiet ) model aircraft in the adjoining field if you ask the farmer nicely.

Centrally located for touring but far enough away from the nearest village to be silent at night. Complete peace and quiet, but not isolated. We have been back four times and it just spoils you for any other B&B - or hotel for that matter. They even book the ferry for you. Come & go as you please.

It all sounds too good to be true but it really exists.

My wife & I have just returned from a lovely four night break at Hermitage Court Farmhouse – A beautiful rural retreat that reveals itself as you emerge onto the open down, having trundled up the partly unmade track through a small wooded area. On returning one evening, we encountered a friendly badger, who kindly lead us up the hill at a slow trot, making use of our headlights. That's a first for us.
The hosts, Jayne and Chris, make you feel very welcome, and are always available to offer any help you may wish for. Our suite was immaculately prepared and maintained during our stay and we had a beautiful selection of breakfasts in our room. This break was a birthday treat for me (paid for by my wife!). We really enjoyed it – Just the job!

We sought peace and quiet and got it here. The farmhouse has two double bedrooms that are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent. We had B&B plus, on one evening, dinner (advance booking needed). The access to the farm house is along a private road that has some bumps; slow driving is needed for comfort.

A fantastic setting under St Catherine's Down. Fabulous views over the island. 2 rooms, excellent breakfast, welcomed with tea and cakes, accessed down a farm track - if you want peace and quiet away from it all this is it. Perfect in every way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hermitage Court Farm is the Isle of Wight’s most secluded and tranquil Bed and Breakfast accommodation: the ideal place in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern living and relax for a while between the green of the downs and the blue of the sky, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Perched cosily under the tops of the National Trust’s St Catherine’s Down, and gazing down over the beautiful rural Isle of Wight countryside towards the waters of the Solent, the ten-acre Farm is hidden away, well off beaten tracks and more than a mile from the nearest main road, on the southern side of the Island. From here, and from the Downs at our doors, you can see everything ... yet hear nothing but the odd rabbit thumping across the lawn, a pigeon chortling, or the woodpeckers dining in the trees. Our peaceful surroundings, however, hide the opportunity for plenty of action. The Downs of the isle of Wight are full of history-from ancient burial mounds and a medieval lighthouse to one of Britain’s most amusing Victorian follies - and full of opportunities for leisurely exploration. A network of the Island’s well-known bridleways and footpaths crosses various parts of the property, and there is direct access to over a hundred miles of the finest and best-maintained footpaths, riding tracks and mountain-bike trails in Britain.A twenty-minute stroll across the Downs (or a very much shorter car trip) brings you to the nearby village of Niton, with its charming shops and friendly pubs, while a little further on you come to the famously picturesque village of Godshill with its much-photographed thatched roofs and celebrated cream teas. The Isle of Wight coastal towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor - famous as holiday venues from Victorian times -- with their glorious beaches and their cliff walks are just a short drive away. ... more   less
