We read a few reports about it being tacky - so phoned ahead after booking and asked them to ensure we had good rooms. They obliged - large well equipped rooms - like US hotel rooms. Lovely views over the grounds. Great buffet breakfast - they do not advertise the fact but you can also order kippers, poached eggs etc - which were cooked to perfection. Sky Sports for free on TV. Free WiFi. Big bath towels. Massive wardrobes. Lift. No fridge or safe in room. Did not try the meals which looked pricey and limited menu. Well worth the extra over a pokey B & B. Would happily return.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel after booking and find out what they allocated - and get it changed if not happy. A...

This was our second stay at the Mount Murray (originally stayed April 2009). The MM is located in large ground including a golf course, however it is a pity there are no panoramic views from this location.

Rooms are a good size and functional ours featuring old style TVs rather than modern flat screens. The swimming pool and jacuzzi/spa is pleasant although a bit of a faff to get access to.

Bar food is excellent and fairly priced, though drinks are typical hotel price.

Breakfast is good buffet style with waitress service for tea and coffee.

Our visit was originally for 3 nights, but a storm mean an additional night was required and despite being a quality hotel, they offered our additional night at a very fair rate.

All in all a great and friendly hotel and look forward to visiting again.

Cooked breakfast in a word - lousy. So bad, asked for poached eggs thinking this was safe option. One was over cooked, the other looked like something the cat made.
View from my room was a fence/wall, so the tired old room was even more grim and drab.
On my first night, I arrived late and accidentally parked in a disabled bay. Went to vehicle in the morning to discover a wooden pole thrust thru the windscreen wiper across front of vehicle. Firstly, I was horrified I had accidentally taken a disabled bay, but incredulous that the hotel would not review CCTV footage 'because there is no damage, the manager doesn't want to look at CCTV'.
I wanted to know if this over the top action had been taken by a member of staff, now I will never know. I'll also never be back to this tired old property. Bar staff and duty manager terrible, reception staff and restaurant staff really nice. I'd rather camp up Snaefell than stay here again.

Stayed during a business trip. Friendly staff excellent wifi Internet included in deal. Lovely location very pretty.

Danish during breakfast was the best I have had anywhere in the world.

Rooms were a little tired but comfortable and clean.

Bar staff were rather bureaucratic when charging drinks to room. Felt like they were going to request to see passport.

The IOM has a lot of poor hotels so this one out of town and with reasonable facilities is worth considering. The corridors look incredibly dated but the rooms are OK. Although out of town its on the main Douglas Peel bus run. Nice to have a hotel that does a real, proper, breakfast, included in the price. Evening meals OK.

We stayed here in middle of May. The room was very large & clean. The Food was excellant and the staff, although mainly foreign, spoke excellant English & were very kind & friendly. We'd recommend this hotel to all our friends.

The only problem we experienced was that the fan didn't work in our bathroom so it got very steamy. If they are thinking of a makeover I would get rid of the bath & install a walk-in shower & a bidet instead.
