“Aston Martin Tour 2013”
Reviewed 13 August 2013

A group of 7 couples who drive Aston Martins decided to visit the Isle of Man, basing ourselves in the Mount Murray Country Club. We were delighted to be greeted with complimentary Buck's Fizz when we arrived.
The facilities and rooms were excellent. The food was very good, the staff were discretely efficient and could not do enough to make our stay memorable. The relaxed atmosphere and excellent value for money surpassed all of our expectations.
We all agreed we would happily return to the Island and the Mount Murray.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake

A very nice carvery on offer - food was good all round. Service very good although had to request coffee following the meal as opposed to being offered.
Situated in a pleasant location although rather close to a housing estate which spoils one of the views.
Tastefully decorated and comfortable - pleasant bar area. Plenty of parking spaces available.

We called the hotel and reserved two four posters for four nights. We had an email requesting card details which we sent. However, after several days we received no confirmation so called again, only to discover that 'there was no record of the booking', despite being able to supply the name of the person we spoke to. Note - calling the hotel is a challenge as apparently they are 'very busy' and unable to answer the phone! We eventually got a four poster room and a wet room and I can only comment on the four poster room - an enormous modern four poster, uninspiring decor needing sprucing up in places, but comfortably furnished, small window, shower over the bath. The hotel overlooks a lake, beyond which is a housing estate. The public rooms are drab and basic and to my mind the hotel would rate more as a good 3*. I used the pool and hydrotherapy pool, both of which were fine. Buffet breakfast satisfactory, evening meals a buffet if a coach tour was in, a la carte if not. The restaurant staff are excellent, however reception staff are thin on the ground and although the hotel offers a shuttle service to (but not from) the airport they were unable to take us to the airport due to a shortage of staff.

Thank you Georgie Louise for your feedback. Most useful and where change and improvement is possible we most certainly will work on it. Obviously on this occasion we did not meet your expectations however we do comply with all 4 star stipulations as set out by the various rating agencies. It is of course not acceptable that your call was not dealt with efficiently and promptly, I totally understand that that is irritating.
In terms of the evening meal: when certain groups of people are visiting the hotel a "carvery meal" is what we agree to provide and it is well received. To anyone not part of that same group the option of partaking of the carvery is offered as an additional dining option; but everyone should be advised that an "à la carte" option is available every night in our Mallards Restaurant for resident or non-resident visitors.
We most certainly do provide transport when requested, to and from the airport. If you were given an answer that we were too busy that is totally inappropriate and I apologise.
We welcome feedback as it allows us to grow and develop.

Stayed at Mount Murray as was working on the Isle Of Man however my husband came along also. Lovely outlook with a nice view of the lake and countryside. Rooms are very spacious and clean. I would say decorated quite traditionally which echos the fact that most visitors seemed to be pensioners. Nice breakfast but didn't have an evening meal so can't comment on that. My husband visited the gym and he said it had all the equipment that was needed for a good workout. I would say this hotel is not quite a 4 star however a good 3+.

We stayed three nights on our very first trip to the IOM and had the bonus of being in the bar at Mount Murray to watch Murray win Wimbledon!
We found the room very comfortable except the weather was very hot and only had one small window so air con would have been very welcome. We propped open the window with a coat hanger and luckily what breeze there was was in the right direction and the room wasn't in the sun until very late in the day.
We did overlook the car park but it was not noisy (not a Saturday) in fact we found the whole place very quiet and restful. The setting helps with a lake and grassy areas.
We only ate in the restaurant on Sunday night which was a turkey carvery, perfectly acceptable if turkey a little dry. Excellent choice of help-yourself starters and sweets. My wife has a dairy allergy but they helpfully made her a veggie stir fry with rice.
Buffet breakfast was no better or worse than usual for a hotel of this standard with everything you'd expect so acceptable. An investment in a new toaster would help the hold-ups.
All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
Definately recommended for an enjoyable short break.
P.S. The IOM is beautiful, although we obviously had the best of weather, with plenty to interest the visitor - we'll be back.
Surprised to find our mobiles were in roaming mode - IOM isn't Europe is it?

60 of us stayed at the Mount Murray for 4 nights. We had set meals so couldn't comment on the restaurant service but the portions were good, the food was well cooked (if a little uninspiring) and the hotel staff were all exceptionally helpful and accommodating, especially Jackie the Conference Manager and Chrissie who supervised the breakfast area. Nothing was too much trouble, even the very late arrival of our ferry didn't cause a panic and our guests were all settled in their rooms and had a good carvery and buffet meal within an hour of arriving. Some of the rooms needed maintenance during our stay but these were mainly carried out swiftly. We did receive a couple of mentions about the noise coming from the gym in a couple of rooms but overall our clients seemed pleased with the hotel. As organisers we were impressed overall by the attention to detail.

Room Tip: ask for rooms away from the gym.
