“Great little pub”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

We have been to the grosvenor numerous times and haven't had a bad meal yet. Husband likes going there because the landlord knows how to keep it beer right.

Food is really nice, fish and chips are lovely, (own made chips) and I have had steak a few times and its always been nice. I usually have the rib eye steak.

We found the staff friendly but not in your face.

One of the better pubs for bar meals on the island. give it a go. Prices are average.

“Honest pub food done very well”
Reviewed 15 March 2012

the Grosvenor is never likely to win any Michelin stars, but as a country pub serving honest, good value and consistent quality pub food it's very good indeed

“DIY service and peas like bullets....”
Reviewed 3 February 2011

I took our family out to this pub recently and was surprised at the service which meant that we had to collect our wine from the bar with steaks that were average and vegetables which were poorly cooked,if at all.
We were told after ordering the wine, and noticing that after 15 mins.it had not been delivered to the table, that it was sitting on the bar with glasses and when I asked the barlady why it had not been taken to the table ,I was met with a curt..."this is a pub not a restaurant...".
It surely is not a restaurant as the meat was tough and the peas were like bullets and after suggesting that we deserved some discount for poor quality, all we got was "I'll mention it to the chef."I was charged £95 for one course and a bottle of wine.
Both barladies are quite surly and the impression is that they're doing you a favour.
Great local beer but this was poor value and is reputed to be under new management.
Drink there,don't eat.
