This is a very unusual cafe up very steep outside steps next to laxey Woollen Mills. Specialises in home made cakes and pies with no hot foods. We had lemon meringue and coffee which was delicious and will certainly return.

The last day of the holiday and it was pouring with rain so it was an indoor activity sort of a day. I left the dog in the car and pottered around the mill shop and gift shop and sorted out a few Christmas presents. The lady in the gift shop informed me that the cafe was dog friendly so I took the bag of purchases back to the car and brought the dog up to the cafe.
They were not doing savoury food that day, but that was OK as I wanted afternoon tea. The display of cakes was a sight to behold, Each one carefully labelled with not only what it was and what was in it but quite a few of them also had a little note about the cake by the staff.
After much deliberation I had the Cherry Profiterole Cake, Ooooh it was good.
The tea turned up in a proper pot complete with tea-cosy and a beautiful cup and saucer. The cake was on an equally elegant plate and both fork and spoon were provided. From the dog's point of view the best thing was the collection of dog biscuits that arrived on the tray with the ta and cake.
There are discreet signs that say drooling is permitted and after tasting the cake I know why they are there.
Well worth the visit, oh and they have free WiFi too for those who cannot bear to be offline for too long.

Thank you for your lovely detailed review. Yes we have more owners drooling all over the place than their four legged friends. We enjoy thinking up our little comments to put on the cake labels.

This is a tiny unprepossing but quirky place. Whilst it may have an equally small selection of hot food, simple Manx broth and bonnag (local bread), it has a big selection of gorgeous cakes. I went searching for my favourite, a divine concoction of pineapple, ginger, meringue and cream. It has been replaced by a pavlova with cream, peaches, raspberries and passion fruit. Delighted to say it was a great replacement with the same slightly chewy meringue.

Becky had chocolate fudge cake with mint icing; it was just like After 8 mints in cake form. David had cherry profiterole cake, he’s a chef and said it was really interesting mix and very good.

All washed down with a good cup of tea.
