Curtain Cottage

Curtain Cottage has the most beautiful soft furnishings - curtains, blinds, upholstery, cushions and bed heads. Absolutely delightful. Everything is impeccably clean and comfortable. Someone from the visitors' book thought it was Britain's best B and B and they could be right. We found it convenient for breaking a long journey, being close to the M1. I wish we could have stayed longer to explore the local area.

Room Tip: Both rooms are delightful - small and cottagey. The twin has its own sitting area whereas the double...

We booked this as our son is at Welbeck and we were going to Remembrance Sunday parade.

There are two rooms, the upstairs one is smaller with a lovely big bathroom and the downstairs one is bigger with a smaller bathroom. You share a small kitchen so you can always have tea and coffee and drinks.

The furnishings are lovely (Sarah runs an interiors business), and the bed upstairs was very comfortable. There were l'Occitane toiletries in the big shower. Lovely big grey towels, and a full length mirror. No reading lamp on one side of the bed though. Small flat screen TV.

Breakfast was very good, fruit to start, bacon, sausage, egg etc, and toast. with lots of tea and coffee and juice.

Not cheap but I would rather pay more and think 'what a great place' than doss down for the night and be eager to leave in the morning.

Sarah and her partner are very welcoming and accommodating.

We have booked this for numerous Welbeck occasions in the next 18 months!

Room Tip: ~Have only stayed upstairs but that was very comfy.....

Quirky set up with a very comfy bed. We had upstairs so had seperate bathroom to bedroom which was really nice. Breakfast was lovely and hand cooked although could have done with a slightly better veggie choice.
My favourite bit was the lovely dogs and the friendly owner who made us feel very comfortable.

We booked both rooms and particularely enjoyed sitting in the pretty conservatory looking out onto the secret garden. Breakfast was very satisfactory and the village is lovely. There are rather alot of single steps around and about the property that you need to be careful of. The bathrooms are both immaculate, as new and the host a warm and friendly sort of person.

Room Tip: The upstairs room has the better bathroom

Excellent 4 night stay here this week. I was the only guest so it felt like coming home every night. The breakfasts were lovely - the poached eggs divine. Sarah is a very accommodating and friendly host and made me feel very welcome. I slept well and enjoyed the very spacious bathroom upstairs. The location for me was perfect and the village is very pretty too. I am looking forward to returning!

I have just returned from a brief stay at Curtain Cottage with my husband, baby and parents. The cottage is beautifully done out and is in immaculate condition. Sarah, the owner, was extremely pleasant and accommodating, including the times I spoke to her over phone and via email when making the booking. The shared kitchen and conservatory meant that it was like hiring a self contained cottage for the night, rather than just bedrooms in a B&B. This was great as it meant we had somewhere to sit and watch TV once we'd put the baby to sleep in the bedroom. I can't recommend this place enough and only wish that we could have stayed longer.

I can't speak highly enough about our recent stay at Curtain Cottage. It really was the perfect location for us as a family to stay over Easter. Curtain Cottage has two rooms, one a twin and one a double. Both rooms are beautifully designed to reflect the connection with the owners interior design business. Both have well appointed bathrooms and the communal kitchen and conservatory area where the scrumptious breakfast was served made us feel we had hired a whole cottage for the family to share.
The booking was straight forward, the welcome couldn't have been more friendly and the fact that our kids got to go and choose their own eggs from the chicken hutch will live long in their memory for them.
Even the sun shined all weekend - not sure they guarantee this everytime!

Look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Twin room downstairs - Extra seating area
