.... and we won't be giving it a third. The food is overpriced for the quality, the portion sizes are small, the vegeatable portion for two is the size of most restaurants individual serving on the small curved dish, you know the one. Dessert was better size but the chocolate triffle, while it looked great, was tasteless. Didn't have the wine we asked for and when asked to recommend something similar suggested a much more expensive wine without telling us the price, bit of a shock on the bill, especially when there is a service charge of 10%. Oh, and no one poured the wine for us, I even took the screw cap lid off myself, again not a 10% level of service. There appears to have been a major staff change and the new head waitress is a rather dour, officious type who looks like she would be happier snarling at you than serving you. Indeed she did just that to a young barman, rudly telling him to carry drinks rather than use a tray and spill them, nothing subtle or constructive in the advice, just a barked order in full hearing of lots of people. Four staff on a Saturday evening with a fairly busy throughput of diners just not good enough. Overall this is a long established restaurant, same owner/chef who is resting on past history when I hear that this really was a good Italian restaurant; it's past it's best now and overpriced for what you get. There is a new place opening next door which if the sample menu is anything to go by will offer a challenge allbeit on a smaller, more informal manner. Sorry Elio's I know we're in a recession and we're all cutting back but not good enough now.
