“Excellent value for money outdoor family holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2011

I was worried about visiting here after reading some terrible reviews but have just had an amazing family break. We went for 3 nights and wish we had gone for longer. the setting is beautiful and has a fantastic amount of watersports on offer at reasonable prices. We spent the weekend relaxing and didnt get time to try everything on offer but have decided to return next summer.
Our 4 year old son loved the play area and was happy to dance away the evening with the childrens entertainers!
We found the caravan and all public areas to be immaculately clean, our caravan was a value standard but we were very impressed with it, especially the central heating.
The swimming pool is small but perfect for families and you get 45 minutes if busy which is long enough for little children.
We ate out one night, there is a small cafe and two lovely bars, when you order food you can have it bought to you where ever you are in the bars which is great. The bar areas are well set out, entertainment downstairs and lovely comfy sofas upstairs.
The staff were all really helpful and friendly, service was great and all staff seemed to enjoy their jobs.
Over the weekend there were other events on around the park such as craft fairs and a car boot sale.
The local area is beautiful and the nearby villages have lots of independent shops which are worth visiting.
We have found a perfect holiday setting which we can return to and would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys the outdoor lifestyle.

We had a weekend break at tattershall in a value caravan.Week ending Oct 9th.It is a lovely setting with the various lakes and the wildlife. Never heard a single aeroplane ?We were really pleasantly surprised as we expected the worst. .The staff were really pleasant ,cheerful and helpfull and a credit to the site..The caravan was basic as we expected for the price we paid ,but it was clean and even had heating in the bedrooms too. Beds made up on arrival .Good amount of plates, cups and cutlery. (Pans could do with replacing though.)We could have had a slight glitch as we booked for 8 people and beds were made up for 6 (however we did not end up with 8 people so no problems). The pool area is small but pleasant and water is a little bit cool but it has underfloor heating in the changing area and loungers and free sauna and steam room.
Never ate in the restaurant but the menu looked like ok,standard pub grub so pretty generic for all. The setting itself is pleasant, clean and well maintained . I had a look at the showers and loos for camping with a view to a summer visit ,they looked clean .The site was really quiet though and i did wonder if there was more than one block of showers , if not i imagine it could get really busy in summer. In general we had a lovely stay despite the rain. Lovely place for a nearby break.

We've just returned from a 5 day break to Tattershall Lakes. I really wish I hadn't read the reviews on here before going, as I went expecting the absolute worst. Instead I was incredibly pleasantly surprised.
All the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful, the caravan was lovely and tidy, and definitely big enough for the four of us. Ok, there were some spiders webs on the outside of the van, but let's face it, it is outdoors, and it's not a sterile environment!
The children's play area was great- my 3 year old and 18 month old loved playing on the "rickety rackety bridge" (and spent a lot of time looking for trolls!), and we found it really easily.
We really enjoyed our trip tp the club room in the evenings- it was a great environment for the little ones to run themselves ragged whilst we could relax with a cheap pint!
The swimming pool was a little cold, but we soon warmed up. The sauna and steam room were small but perfectly formed!
We used Sun vouchers for our holiday, so paid all of £38.50 for the 5 days holiday, and we enjoyed it so much, I wouldn't hesitate in paying normal prices to go back next year!!

Just returned home form 3 nights at Tattershall,we Paid £140.00 for 3 nights in a luxury 6 berth caravan. The Caravan was spot on, clean tidy and well maintained. The caravan was a privately owned let, not owned buy the park. We ventured out on the first day to find the kids play area for our 3 year old to perhaps have a go on the swing or in a soft play area, to our amazment the only facility we could find on whole massive site was one slide attached to a climbing frame suitable for 5 year old or above next to the toilet block. We thought we must have missed something and continue to explore the 'Club House' this actually became a joke amongst the group, there is a fantastic new luxurious swimming pool attached to a tired, small function room that was in desperate need of a lick of paint. We hunted and Hunted over the 3 days we was there to find the play area you imagine would exist ' we never found it! Managment, what are you doing? this could be as good as centre parcs, the setting is fantastic, the facilities are rubish though!

Room Tip: I would advise a privatly let caravan, i would hate to think what the parcs vans are like if the oth...

We have just returned from our w/end break at tatteshall lakes, and having only paying £72 for the weekend using the sun vouchers, we had a value holiday. We arrived at 4pm on friday and collected our keys, and passes from reception. The girls behind reception were very cheerful and helpful. We found our standard caravan and it was really lovely, and clean. The beds were all made nicely, clean floor, work tops and smelt clean. The caravan was fully equiped and very comfortable. We had taken our own bikes and had a nice time cycling around the park, lovely big lakes with plenty of ducks and geese to feed. We feel that cycle paths would be beneficial and make the ride more enjoyable. we enjoyed watching the jet skyers, and watching the aircrafts above. We didn't eat in the restraunt as we had brought our own food but we did use the shop which is small but has everything you need. We went in the boathouse bar twice and enjoyed the entertainment, Danny and Sarah work very hard with the children. Our children 8, and 5 met loads of friends and enjoyed the kids entertainment. My children also enjoyed the morning arts and craft sessions that were put on by the entertainment team. We went in the pool which is very small but ok for an hour. We payed for passes but no one ever asked to see them so can't really see point in that. Overall we had a greeat weekend and would definately recommend and go again. We feel that there would be plenty to do if you stayed longer as Horncastle looked a lovely village and no far from lincoln or Skegness. Well worthy of a visit.

Room Tip: Save the sun vouchers as really good value.

We recently spent the weekend (fri 16 til mon 19) at tattershall lakes. We booked via the sun and paid a grand total of £76 for the whole weekend!!

On arrival we were met by a security guard who was very helpful and efficent..we were pleasantly suprised when we arrived at out accommodation..we were expecting a caravan that slept 4 but instead we had got a superior lodge that slept 6!!!!!
Initial impressions were ' wow how lucky are we!!'....after closer inspection there was dog hair all over the carpet...the twin room beds were obviously not clean..the en suite bathroon had a pile of dirty towels in the sink....the double room had all the bedding chucked into the middle of the bed..as if someone had got out of bed and left it....towels in the shower.......THE LODGE OBVIOUSLY HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED AT ALL!!
Off I go to reception to bring it to the attention of the staff...again met by the security guard ...who was very efficient and helpful....

I ended up making up all the beds myself..which in all honesty I didnt mind doing...i just wanted to start our weekend break as we had come straight from work/school!!!!

To cut a long story short the following day I spoke to a lady on reception and she sorted out the cleaners and gave us £40 in vouchers to spend on site...the head cleaner came to see us in person and apologised...sometimes these thing do happen we understand that

.ALL THE STAFF WE HAD CONTACT WITH WERE LOVELY AND HELPFUL...

The lodge itself ,altho superior, seemed to lack the basics...a dust pan and brush....a decent knife...bottle opener etc etc things we take for granted at home!!

I must say overall it could be absolutley lush...it just needs some titivation....its the lack of detail....lack of organisation...such a shame as it is such a beautiful location....

ALL IN ALL WE WOULD GO BACK...£76 WE GOT A BARGAIN.....I WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETLY PEED OFFF IF I HAD HAVE PAID FULL PRICE BUT ITS THE PRINCIPAL.....STANDARDS!!!!!!

Room Tip: save the tokens from the sun holidays.........76 POUND 3 NIGHTS pay for what you get....I would not...
