“A little Gem”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

A great little restaurant which is small and friendly with great food. It was reasonably priced and the garlic mushroom starter is a must with a nicely cooked steak for mains. It is very intimate in there and even going to the toilet you pass by the one man band cooking in the little kitchen. I love this place and recommend it to everyone.

“Graduate Celebrations”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Just to thank you for a very enjoyable evening on Monday 14 July to celebrate our daughters graduation, we were sat at table under Specials Board. We all had a lovely meal, with a great atmosphere and excellent service. Would definitely recommend your restaurant.

“Shame the Chef killed it!!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Having read the previous reviews we were all looking forward to it especially without the kids.

however one of friends could not attend which appeared to upset the chef so much that he came out and thought it was ok to have a go at me in front of my friends and other dinners.

He complained very rudely, that we should have told him sooner that out of 8 people (that we had booked 2 weeks in advance) only 7 were able to attend, and that he lost out on getting more people into the already tiny and extremely hot restaurant. if he cared to listen it was only that afternoon the baby sitter cancelled. those with kids know about this. If you believe 7 people onto a table of 6 works then you are truly mistaken.

He actually thought it was a good thing to say that he should consider charging us the additional £100.00 because of lost business. the cheek. may be we should have just left then where would he be? Silly person.

Suggest you limit diners to max 4 and clearly put that on your web site.

Suggest you invest in A/C and move the fan from its current position as it is drawing in hot air from the kitchen and blowing it onto your dinners.

People have to walk through right through the middle of the kitchen to use the wash rooms, kitchen could do with updating.

Invest in a better fridge to keep the beer cold especially when you think it is ok to charge £3.30 for a warm can of beer.

oh and the fact you came out at the end of the night to ask about the food and had the cheek to tell me it was poetic justice that you did not have the rack of lamb. Shame, the duck was actually nothing special.

Based on the food, service and restaurant, below average.

This place should have had 7 additional positive votes but its got 7 votes not to go there again. shame really a real shame.

“Love Martins Place”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is a great little quirky, unusual, comfortable bistro. Very friendly owner - Martin, who cooks and still manages to chat to everyone. He buys his food locally. Great for groups of friends, background music is great - oh bla dee oh blah dah life goes on (is that how it is spelt?) type cd's. You walk through the kitchen to get to the toilet. I really recommend going, go with an open mind and enjoy the atmosphere. Refreshing change from restaurant chains.
