Been here several times since discovering it about 2 years ago. Staff have always been polite and courteous and my dogs were welcomed into the garden by the owner and his dog.
Food is excellent quality, incredibly cheap and well worth it. Have even been for a late night bistro meal with the wife. It is fantastic. Rumour is they are branching into traditional Malay food also with an award winning chef. Really don't know if this is the case but seems impressive as I do like authentic food.
Honestly, give it a go. You won't regret it. I happily go out of my way to get here.
Park in the Malt Shovel and walk 50 yards down the canal. Might even see you in there.

Great little menu meaning everything is fresh. It's cosy there and you take your own booze but very well worth a try, you won't be disappointed unless your initials are MH of course.

Often cycled or walked pass the Old Toll House bistro, even popped in once for cooked breakfast with authentic bubble.
This time I made a deliberate plan to taste the Sunday roast, only £5.99, from midday onwards .
The decor inside is quaint, books on the shelves, nothing flash, and got talking to a few of the folk living on the narrowboats who were eating there too, which was nice. The grub was real good quality home made food at a great price with all the works....roasties, gravy, veg, choice of meat, yorkshire, with any sauce or mustard or horse radish you could want.
Staff are lovely and friendly....my kind of place ....and I suspect many others too. Don't tell too many people or I won't be able to breeze in whenever the mood takes me!
