This small hostel is in a well-preserved building within a patch of the New Forest. It's removed from main roads which makes it quiet and leafy. Dorms are simple but comfortable and shared spaces have a pleasant old-fashioned feel. Nice garden. Very friendly staff. There's a very nice upmarket pub/restaurant only a few minutes away.

Room Tip: Ground floor dorms have french windows into the garden.

We camped in the garden of the hostel - nice and flat and 'pitch where you like'. Campers have their own washblock and a small kitchen with a dining area, but can also use the facilities in the house, which can be accessed 24 hours a day with a security code.

All as you would expect from YHA, though the kitchens are quite small and cosy at busy times. Staff were helpful and the hostel is perfectly located for exploring the New Forest. Though we took our own tent, if we returned, we would probably take one of the hostel's own pre-erected tents which are enormous, brand new and look comfortable. The additional cost over taking your own tent is marginal.

All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

Our family have just enjoyed a lovely stay at the hostel which has a nice friendly atmosphere in a beautiful and quite location - the hostel staff were great with our two children age 5 and 3. Thank you, we hope to return later this year

Room Tip: The family room was perfectly fine, very close to the down stairs communal area

I stayed here last autumn when the weather had turned. it's a wonderful location, Burley is a fantasticly oldy worldy village with a couple of good character pubs, cycle hire and a number of quirky shops.

The hostel was nice enough the only problem was the flooded kitchen floor which meant wading through water to use the facilities. They could have done more to resolve this by mopping it more regularly.

It was nice to be able to use the fire in the lounge area but I had to purchase my own fuel and lighters.

The rest of the faciliteis were fine.

Room Tip: Not applicable as you get given dorms.

Stayed at Burley YHA recently with a group of 18 friends (vast majority students ages 22-30ish) We booked out the whole hostel for 2 nights midweek so as not to bother other guests. Staff very friendly and very accommodating, especially as we were such a large group. Good kitchen facilities, well equipped. Whole house very clean and lounge was very cosy. Surroundings lovely and quiet, close to village, plenty of space for outdoor games and activities. Great time had by all. Would stay again!

I had a wonderful time there. The staff was so nice and helpful. I really enjoyed the breakfast too. It's a very peaceful area around. You can do a lot of activities and there is a very nice pub, just two min walking distance from the hostel. How wonderful. I will stay there again. Lucas

Camping very pleasant, facilities proveided excellent support. Local bridleways very good for biking on. All in all a good holiday and easy logistics involving the Youth hostel and staff. We managed to cycle very easily to Beauleigh motor museum and Bucklers ard back from here with 2 teenage girls, 12 and 15. We got drenched a mile short of Beauleigh and the final road down to it was subsequently rather tortuous but we were dry when we got back later that eveing and the YH was easy to use for showers, cooking etc.
