Description: The Queens Head is situated some six miles from the nearest town in the very picturesque village of Burley, on the edge of the New Forest. We are a country pub with country ways attracting clientele who enjoy seeing the wildlife and variety of animals in the surrounding fields. These include deer, ponies, cows and donkeys. The pub dates back to 1645 and is rumoured to be an old smugglers haunt. This was reinforced when, during a refurbishment, treasures like old pistols, coins and bottles were uncovered here. There is also an alleged underground tunnel running between Burley Manor public house and this one. The front of the building has never been changed and inside has retained original features from at least 100 years ago. With alcoves, nooks and crannies, you can hide away and enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside in the garden during the summer months. This is a lovely old pub frequented by really friendly local characters and passers by alike.

During our visit to the New Forest area we visited the lovely village of Burley and found a great pub - its called the Queens Head and the food is really good. Look out for the special offers ie Curry Night/Steak Night etc - Great food, nice pub, good service, good range of beers, make sure you visit.

we took our friends for drinks to the Queens Head in Burley. The service at the bar was alright. We didn't eat, so I cannot judge about the menu or food. I loved the decor inside the Queens Head, fresh and welcoming.

We stumbled upon this pub and we're not disappointed!

There was a wide variety of meals on the menu.....the children's menu is a bit lacking in variety so we ordered our toddler and preschooler a main meal as there wasn't much difference in the price! The food was served quickly and was delicious. Dessert was also delicious.

We highly recommend the sausages and mash and the beef chilli....yummy!!

Not bad considering with 4 main meals, 2 desserts and 2 children's desserts plus drinks we still had change from £40!

My family went to this pub as we have done several times before. We ordered ploughman's as it was a very hot day. When this arrived we were shocked to say the least, we had a slice of bread cut in half, 2 small thin slices of cheddar, a thin slice of blue cheese and a slice of ham. There was no tomato, cucumber or lettuce but an inch long piece of celery a small onion and a small spoon of pickle.
To say we were very disappointed would be an understatement, I have never had a ploughman's that was so frugal. For almost £9 we certainly expected a large piece of crusty bread a chunk of cheese and salad with plenty of pickle. It is very disappointing when you go out for lunch and find that the meal you ordered is more suitable to a child, they either need to reduce the price of the ploughman’s or put more on the plate.

This is our second visit to the Queens Head and for the time being our last. The décor is tired with clear evidence that refurbishment is overdue. We all had chicken of differing types which was rather bland and dull. No vegetables were served anyone's main course. I chose a lemon meringue sundae for my sweet and Miss Marple would have struggled to find any trace of meringue. Overall a disappointment although the staff were pleasant and attentive.
