Located on a main road with ample car parking, this is more like a small hotel than a B&B. The ensuite was good with a power shower and was clean (no mould or other distractions), a huge double bed, TV and tea making in the room. The Wi-fi worked fine. Breakfast was to a high standard. It reminded me of 'Best Western' standard 3 star hotels. There is absolutely nothing lacking however there was nothing to lift it to a 5 star or wow factor either. The price was OK but not a bargain and reflected hotel prices, but, there again, this is the New forest. There are several places to eat nearby with discounts if you stay at the Willows. We tried the foresters which had a limited menu and the food was uninspired (though good choice of Beer) - try one of the others for good food.

If you like walking then there are fabulous walks near Lyndhurst, we did one starting on the Rhinefield scenic road (other side of lyndhurst), and managed to get lost in a good way on a 7 mile walk across rivers and streams with plenty of horses, Deer (including Stags) and pigs to keep you interested. It is easy to visit the coast or the Southampton area from this location too.

I would go The Willows again.

We had the pleasure of staying at the annexe at the side of this b&b for 3 nights - everything brand new and wonderfull! lovely kitchen area - living area and huge 6 ft bed-shower room fully fitted. We really didnt need to take anything as the annexe had it all from iron - iron board - hairdryer, dvds, books puzzles freeview- it was really home from home. flowers cake milk sugar tea on arrival.Co-op just 100 yards away - 2 lovely pubs with nice food ten nims walk away, bus stop outside - lovely area just 2 miles from lyndhurst 10miles Christchruch 7 miles Lymington. The new forest is amazing with ponies donkeys and pigs wondering freely. Cant wait to go back.

We stayed for one night at the end of September. This is an excellent b&b in the New Forest, with pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We turned up late in the afternoon without booking and were made very welcome by David who recommended the best places to eat. We had a really nice en-suite bedroom which was extremely clean and comfortable, a nice touch was a folder giving information about local restaurants and attractions. We would certainly stay here again if in the area and would recommend it to friends.

Just returned from "The Willows" in the New Forest. Excellent B&B, and will stay there again whenever in the area. On our arrival, Jackie made us feel welcome with tea and home made cakes. We had the largest room, but the bathroom is a little cramped, so needed to take our toiletries to and fro, but flannels, soap and shower gel was provided + hairdrier. Other than the small bathroom, everything else was perfect. Great breakfast, tea/coffee provided and conveniently placed. Recommend the nearest pub. The "Forest Inn". The food was excellent, and did some decent real ale. We don't have a car, so getting around can be a problem in some areas, but there are pubs, shops and takeaways in walking distance, and we walked to "New Forest Wildlife Park", which took just 35 minutes. Well worth the trip. Public transport could be better, but the No.6 bus between Southampton and Lymington runs right by the door, but in our opinion could be more regular. Hourly Mon-Sat and 2 hourly Sunday. Ashurst train station is just 15 minutes walk down the road. Enjoyed our stay, and Jackie makes sure her guest are comfortable.

Thank you Malcolm for the review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and that you did manage to visit quite a few places. There are a number of initiatives to encourage people to visit the Forest without their cars such as the Tour Bus, the Twizzy and cycle hire. Unfortunately, the Tour Bus only runs during the summer period due to finance but already a third route has been introduced and this year it continued into September. Out of season locally, is the No 6 bus and the Rail station to help you visit some of the attractions and villages in the Forest. For more information on how to get around without a car-visit our website www.thewillowsbandb.oc.uk.
We are also pleased that you took advantage of our local pubs and restaurants especially as a discount is available at most of them for The Willow guests.

We booked the Little Willows through late rooms. It's a self catering apartment attached to the B&B. The price was very good, but by far the best piece of luck we had was actually choosing to book.
It's PERFECT. It's absolutely immaculate and has everything, and I do mean everything, you could possibly require, It would be entirely possible to live there. Also, Jackie, the land lady, left a couple of home made cakes, tea bags and milk for a immediate cuppa. We were left in peace for the duration of the stay, yet we knew that should we need anything, all we had to do was knock next door.
We'll be going again, so should you.

Thank you Tony for the lovely review. The Little Willows is our new venture and everyone so far has enjoyed their stay. It is an ideal location for all the wonderful activities the New Forest has to offer.
