What can be said other than thank you to Alex, Thom, Guy and everyone else for making our stay memorable. A perfect place to relax before or after wandering around the villages of the ancient New Forest to see and mingle with wild ponies, donkeys and cattle. The forest goes on forever; there are walking paths, pony roads, and roadless sections of forest and woods; it's all beautiful. Now let's get to breakfast: A range of delicious hot and cold options from which to choose, included in the price of the room (note: our room was very comfortable). Dogs allowed in the bar area and lounge. At lunch, chef cooks up fabulous homemade burgers. The dinner menu is lovely; will have to dine in next time. Cannot wait to return! Hey Thom, hug a wild pony for us, will you? We miss them. Sincerely, Laura & Jeff

We booked into the woodlands lodge for Sunday lunch after a recommendation from our friends. The recommendation was thoroughly deserved. Lunch was fantastic with amazing food, outstanding service and great value for money. We will definitely be returning.

Stayed over the Easter weekend with children plus dog and really don't want to fault the place.

Nothing was too much trouble, in fact the staff were genuinely keen to be helpful. Kids could mix and match food from the menu and breakfast first rate.

First time we have taken our dog to a hotel and were a little wary as to whether she would really be welcomed in bar and lounge areas of an evening, but it was no problem at all, and other residents seemed relaxed about it (even the non-dog owners).

Got exactly what we had hoped for - it is a family orientated country hotel that allows dogs - if the decor was maintained to 5 star standards I wouldn't be able to relax taking dog in to the bar and would have paid considerably more.

Will book again next time we're off to the New Forest.

We've just spent one night stay at Woodlands Lodge and on first entering the hotel we were worried as the hotel's furnishings, fixtures and fittings are tired and shabby and don't give a good first impression. The bedroom was a good size and light and airy but could do with a complete upgrade. The duvet was a horrible cheap one that didn't breathe and resulted in a hot night that disturbed our sleep. Despite this the staff were lovely and very helpful and quality of the food made up for the shortfalls and we ended up thoroughly enjoying our stay.

Woodlands Lodge Hotel is set in peaceful countryside and from the pretty gardens there is direct access to the forest. It was a bit muddy, so be sure to wear your wellies! We explored for a good couple of hours and it was great fun, bumping into other walkers with cute dogs, cyclists and horseriders. Beautiful woodlands despite the coldness of Easter.

Excellent location to be based if you want to explore the New Forest area.

On arrival we were shown to our room which overlooked the garden. It alternated between being hot and cold and matched the temperatures of the water when trying to run a bath. The toilet was leaking but it was not loud enough to stop us from sleeping. There were creaky footsteps heard above but that did not disturb us too much either.

The warmth and friendliness of the staff was also hot and cold as well throughout our stay.

The bed was comfy and the room was clean and spacious. Lots of room for our luggage. Usual mod cons like TV, hairdryer and kettle were useful and working. TV had patchy reception sometimes.

We stayed for dinner at the Hunters restaurant in the hotel. 3 Courses for £28 which I thought was good value. I enjoyed the food. Service was friendly and prompt. They got our dessert orders a little wrong, but we just laughed about it. This happened at breakfast the next day but we found it funny.

There is a good choice for breakfast, cereal, fruits, juices, etc. The full english breakfast was filling on the first day and the second day I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was tastier. Noticed that the second day the service was slower but guess they were busy on Easter Sunday.

We got an Easter egg outside our door on the day we checked out. A nice touch.

Room Tip: If you book direct on the website, you get a complimentary drink voucher.
