“Lovely, quiet hotel”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We stayed there for a weekend in June . The staff are really friendly and helpful, and we had a room with a lovely outlook over the gardens. On the first night we ate in the hotel restaurant and it was a really delicious meal.
The bed was very comfortable, and there were black out curtains, so we could have a lie-in - perfect as breakfast was from 8.30 - 10.30 !
The only negative was the bathroom - water pressure was very low, so shower was pathetic, and bath was so small that I could only sit in it - not great after a long day walking. But I know that all the bathrooms aren't like that, as our friends had a decent sized bath.
We had a really delicious breakfast, then later a yummy cream tea - lovely scones with proper clotted cream, and jam.
Overall, we did enjoy our stay, and would go back ( but ask not to be in Room 11 !!)

Room Tip: Not Room 11 .

Stayed one night - would happily have stayed longer. Room was comfortable and quiet. Wifi worked well in room but is unsecured. Bar has good selection of drinks for a country hotel and food in restaurant is excellent. Parking is secure. Bathroom was a good size and fittings were in good condition. Only downside - shower pressure was poor making taking a shower a time consuming business.
Staff really good and very helpful. A pleasant stay and good value

Lovely country hotel on the edge of the new forest. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel decor is a little outdated but everything is very clean. Dog friendly but that shouldn't put you off if you are not a dog lover as other than seeing them in the beautiful garden I was not disturbed by any of them. Restaurant and bar food available and nice local ales. Good value menu and good food. Found as last minute option but will be back!!

We had a lovely stay at the Woodlands Lodge recently. Staff were extremely friendly, down to earth and helpful. Myself and my boyfriend took our dog away for his first holiday! We stayed in a family room on the first floor, which was clean, with everything you could need, and a great size. Upon arrival we looked out of our window to the delight of seeing 2 horses and a foal roaming around in the back garden. There's a little gate out the back, which takes you right into the forest, so we had lots of lovely walks. A great breakfast selection, the salmon and eggs were perfect, and our dog didn't feel left out, as he could join us in the bar area! Great location, brilliant for dogs, all round enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: There are rooms with their own conservatories, which would be great if you were travelling with a do...

I recently stayed at the Woodlands Lodge Hotel for a business trip and can not rate it highly enough. The accommodation was beautiful and clean, staff were welcoming and friendly and the over all feeling and impression was relaxation and comfort. For what you get the value for money is excellent and I would recommend to anyone travelling to Southampton. I will definitely be returning for a personal vacation with my partner.

Happy ,friendly and very helpful staff. Good food.
The only down side was the state of the room. It was clean but one set of curtains wouldn't close, the toilet roll holder was broken and four light bulbs needed replacing.
However, putting that aside, we would certainly visit again.
