Not only a beautiful little village full of half timbered houses and cobbled streets but a whole experience of serenity. Didn't really know what to expect and it's certainly a strange place. Does anyone actually live here? The place seemed almost deserted and all of the cottages tightly closed. I assume they are rental properties for the pilgrims? The religious sites are well worth a visit and so tranquil and calm. You don't have to be religious to enjoy the sheer beauty of the gardens and shrines etc. It was just a fleeting visit this time but I would certainly return and spend more time just wandering around and soaking up the atmosphere.
