“Anniversary weekend Borrowers”
Reviewed 16 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This weekend retreat was stunning, we stayed in The Borrowers Cottage which was beautiful, pure luxury throughout. It was our wedding anniversary and our welcome hamper was superb, the owners Delane & Alex even put champagne, chocolates, flowers, anniversary balloon and card in our cottage, this blew us away. They give you the space you want but are close by if you require them, they are both such lovely people and have really thought about what there guests would like. I would recommend this beautiful place to all, you will not be disappointed. Cottage, grounds, owners all 5*****+. Thank you both so much we can't wait to return.

We are so pleased that we helped to make your anniversary weekend a special one - we do try to go that extra mile for our guests and it is wonderful that it works and makes people happy. We are very much looking forward to having you to stay with us again - it is lovely when people arrive as strangers but leave as friends! Kindest regards, Dalene & Alex

“Tommys First Holiday”
Reviewed 9 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

What a beautiful place. Me, my Husband and Luther the Beagle took out 6 month old Tommy on his first holiday here and it was amazing. Dalene and Alex had set the place up perfectly, made it so easy to look after Tommy and Luthy there. The hamper is delicious and so warming with a fresh loaf of bread, scones, ham, cheese and much more. Perfect for breakfasts and picnics. Thanks you so much. Xxx

“A wonderful holiday.”
Reviewed 22 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We arrived in flash floods only about seven miles from our destination. Went through about eight inches of water but further on it was about 4 feet deep we were advised to turn round which we did. Found a dryer spot to stop to contact the owners they asked us where we were and they said they would come and find us. Received a call later to say they couldn't get to us so to go back to Diss and wait in the Park Hotel car park and they would meet us there which they did, we then followed them to the cottage. We were so relieved to see them. On arrival at the cottage the welcome pack was amazing everything one wanted so that we did not need to go shopping until next day. The larder also was filled with everything imaginable. Pleased to say the weather brightened up and we had a fantastic time. Alex and Dalene are the perfect hosts they did not mind us troubling them for various reasons. Look forward to returning. Thank you so much for everything, both of you.

“Simply the best place we have ever stayed.”
Reviewed 26 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

As with many holiday rentals, you take the photo's with a small pinch of salt, artistic license or clever photography and all that. In this case I'm delighted to say the photo's absolutely do the Bees Knees justice. Dalene and Alex are consumate hosts, nothing is too much trouble and we were made to feel so welcome. The property itself is absolutely stunning, no expense has been spared, and the attention to detail is incredible. The lounge/diner area is spacious, well furnished and very homely. The kitchen is superbly well equipped, with a microwave combination oven, as well as a fan oven. Washing machine, dishwasher, hob and coffee machine is just the tip of the iceberg, if you can think of it, it will be there.
Upstairs are two well furnished bedrooms, with skylights, again excellent quality furniture and bedding, and a very comfortable bed. The separate WC and bathroom are beautifully tiled, again with skylights, and again, the little things and attention to detail are incredible.
The gardens are amazing, and if you have children with you they'll find them magical. There is a safe pond area with half a dozen Indian Runner ducks, which are very entertaining. Set back from this you'll find a large coop with 3 small (quiet) chickens, and a lovely childrens playhouse, big enough to keep a couple of youngsters occupied for several happy hours. Alongside this is a swing, climbing frame, see-saw setup. Follow this around through the lovely garden full of flowers and plants, and you find a wicker pagoda to sit in. But not content with this 20 metres away sits 'The Smial'. A wonderful octagonal cabin, capable of seating around 8 people around it's internal seating, all facing in towards the barbecue/open fire pit in the centre. You will find soft cushions, solar lighting and a cosy place to sit and enjoy the quiet. Another 20 feet away sits another octagonal pagoda, this time larger than the first and with lots of soft furnishings. And if that isn't enough, at the far end of the 'top garden' there is a 2-3 seater wooden swing seat. Everything is in impeccable order, from the lawns to the borders to the outdoor seating.
We found the location to be well suited for exploring this lovely part of Norfolk, but never felt that we wanted to get away early or stay away till late. The Bees Knees is the most homely holiday rental we have ever stayed at, and just chilling out watching TV or laughing at the ducks was just as much a part of the holiday. Alex and Dalene really have found their true vocation, they have made The Bees Knees and the other property 'The Borrowers' somewhere they themselves would wish to stay, and it shows. We will be back !!

I stayed in one of the cottages for three weeks whilst on work placement at Banham Zoo. Dalene and Alex were absolutely amazing hosts. As I don't drive, Alex came and picked me up from Diss station, which was extremely helpful and kind of him. They both took me to the local shops so I could buy food. Every week the cottage got cleaned and fresh scones, biscuits and fruit were placed ready for when I came home after work. I had never stayed away from home before so I was extremely nervous. However I can honestly say I am over the moon with the service in which Dalene and Alex provided me. I wouldn't have expected anything from Alex and Dalene accept from the cottage for a few weeks. However they provided me with lifts to and from the zoo, fresh food kind service and just made me feel 100% at home. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to stay in Norfolk. Dalene and Alex are kind, caring and are always willing to help. I couldn't have stayed at a better place.

“A Lovely Stay”
Reviewed 26 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Alex and Dalene were the perfect hosts. They are there to greet you and take you through the property. The accomodation was very equipped, in fact eveything you could think of has been thought of and catered for. The cottage was very clean indeed and also very cosy and comfortable with good quality fixtures and fitting and also kitchen equipment. The only negative I would give it, is that it is on a busy road without a footpath. The traffic drives very fast along the road so you would not want to walk on the road at all. So you need a car to go anywhere, even to the local shops or pub. With saying that Dalene and Alex did provide lots of extras for your stay so we didn't need to go out and shop on the first night if we didn't want to. The gardens are beautiful and although there is a busy road it did not take away the peace and tranquility of the gardens. I would definitly recommend staying at this lovely property if you are considering it.
