We had heard about this cottage from a friend His description was good but our experience surpassed this
The grounds are wonderful with a beautiful pond, tastefully laid garden ,hen coop , and a children's play area
The cottage is bright and airy with everything we could possibly want
The lounge had tv DVD and a DVD library alongside a library of good reading
The kitchen is so well equipped Ali g with a selection of fresh goodies for our enjoyment
There is a well stocked honesty pantry
Upstairs the bee theme continues
We had two bedrooms which were so fresh and clean
The bathroom facilities are bath, shower and wash hand basin and across the landing a toilet and further hand basin
The decoration is of a high standard and freshly done
The owners were delightful and very helpful
I thank them at this point for my birthday card and balloon
We will return as the area holds plenty to see
The owners dogs and cats are friendly but know where to go and not to go
Having booked The Bees Knee’s and The Borrowers cottages for a family celebration and had spoken to Dalene, our hopes were high for a lovely time and the experience actually exceeded our expectations.
From the moment we arrived ‘Olde Farm’ it felt like a ‘home from home’ for all of us. A wonderfully warm welcome from Dalene and Alex and then the cottages themselves, the gardens and the welcome packs were truly amazing – the fridge was stocked, we had home-made scones, clotted cream, jam & marmalade, flowers, champagne, fresh fruit etc. - Dalene and Alex couldn’t be more accommodating.
Their attention to detail in both cottages is second to none everything one might need and those extra little touches which kept revealing themselves to us throughout our stay, like the pheasant, squirrel and owl (stuffed) seated on the beams of The Borrowers and the little toys hidden in the bathroom cupboard at the Bees Knees – at just the right height for our granddaughter to discover. Also the little bees theme dotted throughout the Bees Knees and the unique ‘Noah’s Ark’ which we all loved.
We enjoyed a lovely family BBQ in the Smial and the thoughtful garden seating areas were so inviting, allowing us relax and breathe in the fresh air and appreciate nature. The secret paths and thoughtful planting throughout the gardens, the lake with ducks, the chickens added another level of depth and interest and also their own cats and dogs which were friendly and so cute, especially the new puppy.
Olde Farm certainly deserves it’s 4* Gold for 2017 and we will definitely be returning for another visit as soon as possible.
Stayed here for a weekend and it's even better than the photos! It was so lovely and cosy! They have everything you need AND more and the owners are lovely! Would highly recommend!
Had a lovely stay at Delene and Alex's cottage, which is beautifully decorated and furnished. The gas fire (which looks like a wood burner) is a really lovely touch.
We ate at the inn on the green in the local village which was really lovely and catered well for gluten free. We also used the Smiel to cook a BBQ which was fun!
We visited Southwold and Sandringham - both just over an hour away and worth a visit.
Daisy the golden retriever had a lovely time in the garden and was well catered for in the cottage and was happy to sleep downstairs as requested.
No mobile phone signal and very slow internet - could be a curse or a blessing depending on your personal point of view! But didn't spoil our stay.
