“Central location for Great Golfing”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

Stayed here with a golf tour for a few days when it had only recently been taken over by the present owner. It was/is a work in progress but we found it to be fine with good helpful staff in the main hotel and in the golf club clubhouse. Rooms we had were newly refurbished and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent. If I was planning a golf trip to play Cromer and Sheringham this would be a perfect location. I look forward to revisiting when the refurb is completed.

I stayed here a few weeks ago top rate staff and food rooms are a bit dated BUT they are working on that overall the hotel is fantastic as a coach driver I will be going back with the family. The golfing is very good and loads to do close by for all the family Cromer is just 2.5 miles

when a friend and I visited, the sign advertised lunches, etc, in the restaurant. On enquiry a somewhat disinterested receptionist said that they had a wedding at 3pm, so unlikely to get lunch in restaurant. However, we could eat in the sports bar, which we did. Staff in bar very pleasant and helpful, but menu mediocre to say the least, but adequately cooked and presented.

Room Tip: did not stay overnight

Staff great, food very good, room excellent, 9 hole golf course challenging, golf clubhouse its staff and its sports bar and restaurant excellent BUT the advertised wifi was not working and all our requests over several days were answered as 'Mr Mackenzie will be in tomorrow and only he can arrange to fix it'. The Mackenzie group took over the hotel in 2011 and they sort out their management style and they need to delegate more to their staff if they are to succeed where the previous owners failed. As a volunteer of four organisations I need to keep in touch by email and we only booked this particular hotel as it advertised wifi, albeit free - if it means charging for it to keep it working so be it - we would have paid.

Room Tip: The luxury rooms overlooking the golf course are well worth paying the extra.

The Links country park hotel on paper looks very good, in practice however it is somewhat poorly managed. I overheard disgruntled staff members complaining to their colleages regarding working conditions in the main hotel, also when visiting the clubhouse the very same thing after who i can only assume was the owner (casually dressed when all other management looked professional) spoke with the kitchen staff with such disdain it spoilt an otherwise enjoyable 9 holes of golf. Overall my stay there was largely uneventful, everything was as you would expect from a 3 star hotel. I shall however not be considering staying there again as it is very overpriced for what it is and much better value for money will be easily found elsewhere.

I had stayed at the Links ten years ago and thought that it needed a refurb - and thankfully it has had one. I was on a 2 night golf package with some friends. I had 2 nights bed, breakfast and evening meal plus unlimited golf on their own 9 hole links course plus 18 on Sheringham and Cromer courses. All the courses were in very good nick.
My room was a double in the attic and was very comfortable. I was a little surprised to find a bath but no shower. This must be a new room as the lift only goes as far as the second floor so no good if you can't manage stairs.
The food was of a high standard and plentiful. Service was very good. All the staff were friendly and attentive.
The hotel is a bit remote but in a lovely location. Apart from the golf course there is a rather delapidated tennis court and a smarter swimming pool.It seems a popular location with coach parties as there were two there during our stay.
If you are on a golfing holiday or just exploring North Norfolk this makes a good place to stay.

Room Tip: If you have trouble climbing stairs ask for a room on the ground or first floor. If you prefer a sh...

We wanted to visit Norfolk for my birthday which fell on the Saturday this year and to take our dog with us for a change instead of leaving him behind. We have travelled the world and stayed in some amazing hotels but as this was marketed as a pet friendly hotel we lowered our expectations - we had also read the previous reviews on trip advisor in which people had expressed disappointment with the breakfast.
We arrived in fair weather and checked in. There were some minor issues with the room which we just accepted or fixed ourselves for instance we couldn't get the bathroom sink to drain but after a couple of minutes fiddling with the plug we were able to loosen it.
I enquired at reception regarding a walk which was mentioned on the hotel website but the receptionist didn't know anything about it but did volunteer where she walked herself.
My daughters wanted to play tennis so we picked up the four complimentary hotel rackets (2 with covers and 2 without) and 4 tired looking tennis balls and walked onto the court. On opening the covers I was amazed to see the sorriest looking rackets I have ever seen - nearly all the strings were broken and a tennis ball could easily have passed straight through each racket. I took these back to reception who immediately phoned a colleague who was on an errand for the hotel in the local town to request that they purchase new rackets. To my utter surprise within 15 minutes we had 2 brand new tennis rackets and 3 new tennis balls - what service! 90 minutes of tennis ensued in glorious evening sunshine.
At dinner we had a drink in the hotel lounge and then were escorted to a round table at the large bay window with a view down towards the village. The meal of calamari and lamb shank was absolutely delicious - well done!
Breakfast in the morning was nothing less than superb which having read the previous comments was a pleasant surprise. Good choice of cereal, fresh juice, yogurts, a hearty full english breakfast (compliments to the chef) and gallons of tea. Mmmmm!
The hotel is far from perfect but the young staff bent over backwards to accommodate our every wish and I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday.
