When you meet the owners of this resort, you will know why you get good food, good service and well maintained accommodation.

They are there, all day long, at the venue, to make sure the place is spotlessly clean and well run. Of course, they are foreigners from Canada, and Australia who are there all day long supervising the staff. Local owners tend to let the place rot!

Room Tip: By the pool and right by the beach.

We wandered out of Manila for a short drive and a quick overnight getaway just to relax. This place is the best to go. Amongs all the resorts tha line the beach this is by far has the best starndards! The place is small, but you get so comfortable - clean rooms, surroundings, and very well secured. Unfortunately its location along the beach is not so good as there are rocks afront the beach, just wait till it's high tide before you could swim. My family enjoyed the place. The food are great, very worth the price. The staff are well mannered, likewise the owners/managers.

Should you be around the Matabungkay beach area, this is definitely the best place! The price is quite high, but hey, you will get what you pay for! That is quality.

I stayed with my family and friends this past weekend and it was fantastic. Great views out to sea and a nice beach. The sea itself I did not swim in but tried the pool which is fine. Theresa and Neil Howard manage the place really well. The staff are very friendly. The rooms we had were clean, bright and very comfortable. The 'resident tenants' joined in the entertainment and the food and bar are great. Lots of European as well as local cuisine. Full American breakfast - couldn't go wrong! Great spa. Prices reasonable but not for back-packers I'd say! There is an amazing golf club (Calatagan) local to the resort for those who fancy their prowess. I give this beach resort 100% and will definitely go back again.

We stayed at a quiet time (Sept 2011) so had a choice of rooms. We stayed 3 nights at the resort, in the upstairs room across from reception, looking out over the beach- a great choice. You are almost on the beach and can hear the surf at night and in the morning which is very relaxing. The rooms are reasonably priced- we paid p3500 for a room (2 adults and 3 kids).
The staff were friendly and attentive, we never had to wait long for service. The rooms are clean and well appointed and were kept clean. The air-con worked well and the kids had a TV to watch. There was a ref as well.
The resort has two pools, a main pool, shallow at both ends and about 7 feet deep in the middle, and a seperate childs pool (more of a jacuzzi really- but good for toddlers). The pools were clean.
There is a gate leading from the resort onto the sandy beach- but this was a real disappointment- the beach is filthy. Some resort staff were raking the area immediately in front of the resort- but if you strayed a few yards either side there was detritus and rubbish and filth. This isn't the resort's fault of course- but it's a sad indictement of the Philippines that the people take such little care of their beautiful surroundings. I have been to many places in Philippines over the last 15 years and am depressed at the littering and trash. There are so many people just hanging around, why don't they pick up the rubbish! Even Borocay main beach is blighted by litter- its unbelievably sad. Oh well.
I know some of the rubbish washes up from the sea and Manila Bay is filthy, but why don't the people clean it up?? It would be of such benefit to the place. Add to the horrendous litter of plastic bottles and wrappers was the sewage streams at intervals making us return swiftly to the resort! I would recommend not going onto the beach at all and staying all the time in the resort. God knows about the water quality of the sea!! You may wonder why I'm ranting about the beach- but surely part of the pleasure would be to swim in the sea also, ot just in the pol- but it would take a braveer man than me to do that, so I have to mention this- even though obviously the beach is not the resort's fault.
There were many 'house boats' moored in shallow water- but it became clear that these did nothing more than float stationery- and not sail anywhere, but maybe they did if you hired one? if you wanted to you could have a BBQ on board (!?)
The restaurant has a very wide range of food (including many European and American favorites), but it is very expensive, and the food not always served hot. As we were almost the only people staying this was puzzling. Bear in mind there is nowhere else to eat- unless you chance the beach, so the resort has a captive market.
There is a pool table and a good selection of books in the restaurant area and also a massage/spa room, but we didn't tget sround to trying that out.

To sum up- Coral Beach is a nice, clean resort with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are good value but the food is quite expensive. Outside the resort the beach is awful.

I had an excellent experience in Coral Beach Club. It is two and a half hours driving from Manila and it is a great place if you want to relax near the capital.

The place is super cool, with nice swimming pool and warmed jacuzzi, staff is extremely friendly and help you for any problems you may have. The place is on the beach, basically the beach is downstairs. Food is also very good.

Nothing to add, definitelly a great place to stay!

P.S.
Per tutti i viaggiatori italiani, vi raccomando questo resort. Ottimo cibo, pulito, staff disponibile, vicinissimo alla spiaggia!

Very good food, thought a bit expensive. There are some quite different food like lamb curry.

The room we stayed is standard room which is quite old, and can hear the noisy from downstairs. for price of P2700 on a holiday.

The other rooms - super deluxe are newly renovated, very good, but expensive P3800 on a holiday.

Room Tip: Super deluxe rooms are really nice, like 5 star hotel...

Reserved by phone. There was some issue as at first we were asked to make a deposit for our stay on their bank account, which is understandable but a bit of a hassle when you're a tourist without a local bank account. We explained this and in the end we could just pay with our international credit card on checkout.

CBC can provide transport from and to Manila by airconditioned shuttle, cost was PHP 9000 for the return trip.

Coral Beach Club is smallish as resorts go, clustered around the swimming pool are two 2-story buildings with three rooms per level, two bungalows listed as superdeluxe rooms, the bar / restaurant building and a little spa / wellness place. When we arrived, renovation work was in progress on one of the two-story buildings which worried me a bit at first, but apart from on our arrival day this generated not much noise or other discomfort. There are three more rooms next to the entrance but they seem to be no longer used.

We stayed in one of the superdeluxe rooms, which are quite nice and big (see pictures).

Food was nice, with both local and international dishes available. Prices reasonable.

Overall we had a pleasant stay here and would return. Some criticisms:

Swimming pool a bit on the small side but OK. The Jacuzzi however seems to be mainly used as kiddie pool, and although it is cleaned daily, I would not use it especially later in the day. The beach is not really nice, dark sand and although kept clean directly in front of CBC the rest of Matabungkay beach is messy. Also annoying are the vendors that appear out of nowhere the second you go through the gate to the beach. During the day, but especially in the evening loud karaoke bars operate further down the beach. Now if only their clients could sing better...

Room Tip: Ask for one of the superdeluxe rooms, the price is worth it.
