“Excellent stay from start to finish!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

My husband and I were guests of the Santa Rita Winery and ended up having the whole hotel and grounds to ourselves for 2 nights. This is NOT typical. We were told they only let people reserve rooms if at least 5 rooms are filled by a group. The staff was top notch. They didn't hover but were around if we needed something or if they were serving us our meals. Being that we were the only two people there it was very very quiet. The pool is almost a 1/4 mile walk from the house but you don't even notice because you are looking at the fruit orchards, the gardens, the swans, ect. It was about 93 degrees F while we were there and the pool is not heated. It was chilly but refreshing. We ate our meals (and pre-dinner cocktails) out on the terrace which was lovely. There is no airconditioning in the hotel so open your windows (for second floor guests) or sliding glass door (for first floor guests) to get some air moving into your rooms. We left our room door unlocked since there was no one in the hotel but us and staff. Felt very safe and secure. We felt like a princess and a prince staying in this stately hotel. I took photos of all the rooms and conference rooms as well as the grounds and pool. If you would like to see them please send me a message. This is an excellent location for a wedding, group retreat or family reunion.

Room Tip: We were in room 203 which is in most of the literature photos. Loved hearing the fountain outside in...

Our wine tour group stayed here for two nights. The building is beautiful, and there is a real sense of history here. Our room ("Merlot") was quite large and well-appointed. We had an excellent dinner at the hotel on one of the evenings, and were also impressed with the breakfasts, which featured table service rather than the more usual buffet. Service was also excellent.

This alone would have made our stay memorable, but what really made it outstanding was the beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel. We greatly enjoyed wandering around here, looking at the pond with its pair of swans, a huge variety of trees, some of them quite ancient, and the vast vineyards and orchards. Our only regret is that our busy schedule did not give us enough time to explore the estate more fully. Highly recommended.

It's not cheap, but the manager welcomed us as we drove into the court yard. The room was huge, the gardens superb, the food very good, service excellent and the wine unending.
The real test of any hotel is would you be happy go back and our answer is yes.

On stepping of the coach we were greeted by the staff all very pleasant and eager to help with luggage etc,19 of us in our group all seamlessly checked in, it reminded me somewhat of Gleneagles or Turnberry of old, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, after a freshen up it was down to the terrace for canapes and fizz a tasty selection, then on to a superb dinner with candelabras, starched linen and impeccable silver service from the two waiting staff very large portions for a four course dinner, then retiring to the snooker room with the liqueur trolley which was over indulged by some of the party "you know who you are" Hic, slept like a log then up for a full silver sevice breakfast by the same two waiters from the previous evening, then taken of a tour of the grounds, vineyard and winery with tasting in my view from start to finish this place is faultless providing good old fashioned serive without pretence just stunning

Room Tip: Stay as long as you possibly can!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Vina Santa Rita was founded in 1880 by the well-respected businessman Domingo Fernandez Concha. He also commissioned German architect Teodoro Burchard to build his Pompeian-style summer home on the property with a neo-gothic chapel beside it. Two years later the renowned French landscape architect Guillermo Renner designed the 40-hectare park that surrounds the hotel. His sophisticated landscaping also incorporated Italian, French, and English-style sculptures. With 16 guest rooms as well as lounges and dining rooms, this boutique hotel strives to offer the best service to the most demanding guests in a refined, welcoming, and personalized setting reminiscent of that experienced in many of the castles and vineyards in France. Hotel Casa Real is located on the Vina Santa Rita estate. Its late 19th-century Pompeian style has been preserved, making this one of Chile’s unique historic monuments. The hotel has 16 elegant guest rooms, exceptional dining with an ample and diverse selection of our wines, and excellent service—all immersed in an exclusive and absolutely private setting. In addition to enjoying this beautiful hotel, its surroundings, and its cultural and historic heritage, guests can also visit the impressive Andean Museum and choose a range of different activities and winery tours. ... more   less
