“Great get away location, Lovely staff”
Reviewed 12 April 2011

Went for a country break with some friends, is a great area for walking [its on the pilgrimage trail!] I would suggest taking a walk up Mountain Road, or a stroll around the fishery lake, very beautiful Kentish scenery! We also went to Bagham Farm over the road where you could feed the donkeys and chickens. Suggested to us by one of the staff members, who are all really friendly.
Our room was great we were given one over the road in the converted barn, the room was huge with plenty of room for us all, and had our own private access to the rear garden! Definitely worth a visit to The Woolpack it has become one of my favorites!

We stayed at The Woolpack Inn over a weekend as an escape from our hectic London lives. Wearrived and were greeted with a wide smile on check-in and how lovely to be shown to our room, a quaint stable block conversion just across the road. We dined in the restauanr on both friday and saturday nights and the food was fantasic, all home made and bursting with flavour. Breakfast was more than adequate with a cold buffet selection and a full english complete with black pudding. The staff were very helpful and gave us suggestions for attractions to visit and even gave us a lift to the station.
The village is like a step back in time even down to the locals who all nodded a hello on our morning walk.
Look out The Woolpack - we will be back with friends.

The main problem with our visit was mainly the meals, we could not finish our evening meal due to a noisy group of customers who entered the bar/eating area and showed little consideration to people eating their meals.
The breakfast coffee was cold and the waitress would insist on setting up the adjacent tables during our meal and just said she was doing her job when challenged.
The room was an annex, no hot running water in the washbasin. The television was very old and the picture was very poor.
On the morning of our checkout the manager was aggressive and abusive because we were not prepared to accept the poor standard of service and dared to complain and show our feelings. The village policeman was called over the very unpleasant incident.

We stayed in the Woolpack for just the one night. The room and the bar area were very nice and we were generally very please with the stay. However we booked in for dinner and found that the food was extremely average for what we paid. We also felt that the dining area itself was rather poor and very bright more like a cattle area than fine dining! All in all the four of us paid for 2 courses each and a few drinks £250 this is alot of money for what we received. Nice stay but food was very disappointing. Oh and £20 to get into Canterbury, bit of a pain!

Lovely country hotel in a quiet old England village. The Owners and the Staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing. The Hotel has its own dinning room where you have Breakfast and you can have Dinner at a very resonable price, They also serve lunch and snacks in the Bar area. The food is of excellent quality.

We had my father's 90th birthday celebration in the restaurant and most of the guests stayed overnight. The proprietors and staff were all very helpful from the booking process onwards, including keeping the extent of the family party secret from my father.
We were trying to work out place settings and arrange the cakes; they moved the chairs, provided us with candle holders before the event and bags and napkins for the pieces of cake afterwards. They were most accommodating even though some of the party seemed not to want to end the night.
The food and wines were excellent. All the guests were most impressed and saying they would like to go there again - pretty good since none live close by!
The rooms were clean and lovely, the beds comfortable and the towels large.
Breakfast was very good - again they were most accommodating and provided my father with the boiled egg and toast soldiers he fancied!
Definitely a good place to stay.

The room i stayed in was nice and quiet very relaxing (nice hot shower), i had the Mediterranean chicken there one night which was so good i ordered it again the next night! The bar had lots of local brewed beers, not my thing (more of a g+t gal), but all the locals raved about them! Briefly met the owners a really nice couple who have apparently just taken over the place, their hard work is clearly paying off as the whole place, the atmosphere, everything was so lovely and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area!
