“Really nice family room”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We stayed here one night on the way to the Dover-Calais ferry, so don't have a lot of experience with the hotel (particular as we arrived quite late). However, what experience we do have is totally positive.

Everyone we spoke to at the hotel was very nice, and the lady who checked us in was also very nice, even though we arrived at 10.30 pm, just as they were closing up.

The room itself had two bedrooms, a bathroom, as well as two additional beds in what was also effectively a living room. All were very comfortable, and the room was nicely decorated. Both the hotel and the town are very pretty. We didn't have a chance to try any of the food at the hotel, but they had awards on the wall, and the quality of the accommodation suggests the food will also be very good.

All in all a great place we would be happy to go back to. A nice place for a family wanting to stop overnight before catching the Dover-Calais ferry (which is only a 30 minute drive away), but would also just be a nice place to stay in the countryside.

We stayed at the Woolpack inn , the last weekend in March. It's location is lovely , a nice quaint village ( not lots to do ) but we were only sleeping there and visiting city centre Canterbury so it met our needs. The pub itself inside is what you'd expect , lovely warm feeling and regulars who made you feel welcome . Mine and my husbands bedroom was a let down though . It was a lovely decorated room situated in the outer buildings , downstairs. The problems began when trying to sleep. The room was so cold , and the walls paper thin. I mean thin , I could hear the man upstairs snoring all night ! . I thought I might of been a bit ott with this but the next night was even worse. Every creek , door shutting , conversation was heard which resulted in me banging on the ceiling in a rage so they would be quiet! . Although this isn't in any means the other guests fault , I'm assuming when they've renovated these rooms , no one has actually checked sound control ! Lovely place , land lady ok ( bang on 11pm) she rattles her keys to close up . Just do not sleep in the outside annexes downstairs ! ( you won't sleep a wink )

Three of us old lads stayed 3 nights in the ‘Family Room’ off the patio area.
The accommodation was not quite what we expected as we each like a room to ourselves and this involved using the sofa bed in the ‘lounge’. The only way the 2 others could get to the toilet in the night was through the so called ‘lounge’ which made for a busy thoroughfare.
Although the weather was warm, the following morning the insides of the windows were running with condensation. The accommodation clearly suffers from damp and the odd woodlice crawling over the carpets.
The bar, the atmosphere and the bar staff were all excellent – a great place to relax with a beer.
The dinner menu and wine list was extensive and the food was good.
At breakfast (charged extra at £6 extra) we had to make our own tea from a warm water flask. The excellent cooked breakfast was an additional £2.
After spending some £800 over the three days we settled up and left never once being asked if everything was OK or if we enjoyed our stay at The Woolpack.
Perhaps a little more customer care and damp proofing is required.

Staff and management need training, breakfast service was a shambles. Over cooked scrambled egg, rubber bacon, bread never materialised. Toast finished before cooked breakfast arrived. Dark dingy breakfast room and could over hear a staff member complaining about other staff by name, not doing their job and he had no time to follow them around. Room door you could see daylight all the way round, door to garden only had a light coloured blind on it would be better with a curtain as well. The kettle was covered in scum inside, unusable. Bathroom needs some tlc/updating. The bed was however very comfortable and warm. No way is the room worth the money, the village is beautiful and well worth a return visit.

Room Tip: I am not sure but I think all bedrooms are in annexes, the one allocated was over the road so a litt...

Stayed here over the easter Bank holiday.

Was welcomed with a warm smile, asked about my day and shown to my room.

Nothing was too much trouble, even gave me good ideas of places to go for the day.

Would definitely stay again.

We stayed over the recent bank holiday weekend as we were attending a wedding in the village. We arrived around 8pm on the Friday evening and were made to feel very welcome immediately. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We are a family of five and as the bar was busy we asked if we could order food to eat in our room. This was no problem and the food was brought over piping hot and delicious. The bar menu was extremely good value for money. Breakfast was nice although I do feel it should be included in the price of the room. We stayed in the family suite which was located at the rear of the hotel in a separate building on the ground floor. This was clean and spacious aswell as comfortable. My only gripe is that the door opens out on to the hotels patio area. This was fine as the patio was quiet but I do wonder if it is busy during the warm summer evenings how much noise there would be which I would foresee causing potential problems when trying to get young children to sleep. I would stay here again however and would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Delightful village, Excellent hotel, Fabulous Food

I stayed here with my daughter and son-in-law , staff very welcoming and accommodating.
The food served was a very good quality, would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We travelled with a dog and where able to eat meals in the Bar which was excellent. Very pet friend...
