“Lovely Hotel, value for money and brilliant food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights for a golf competition. Clean, well decorated rooms in hotel with large bathrooms and lovely family atmosphere. Equally nice is the pub and restaurant which is well priced and good quality of food with has a touch of being family run and not just another pub. In fact ate here with my family that visited for the day and the food was brilliant. Would recommend this place anytime.

We stayed here with our friends for two nights in April. After checking in we were taken to our rooms in a separate converted barn by the receptionist who showed each of us to our rooms and pointed out all the necessary amenities. Rooms were very comfortable. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The food wasvery good with a good choice all cooked to order. Breakfast the next morning was a shambles. Knowing we were staying and there were 6 of us no table had been prepared and it appeared the tables had not been cleared and set since the previous evening. There was only one member of staff on and he did not acknowledge we were there.
Service that evening was slow and we waited a long time between courses..

We stayed here for one night and it was a lovely stay. The Evenhill is a Shepherd Neame pub and outbuildings have been converted to create hotel rooms. So although the pub is on a busyish road, the traffic noise doesn't reach the rooms. Rather than give us the key and tell us which floor we were on, the member of staff took is to the room and explained locks, the TV and the heating. We had a huge family room and my daughter loved the corner bath, very deep and there was plenty of hot water. We ate dinner in the pub and it is gastro pub food, not pub grub. The veggie options were delicious and the Vegetable and goats cheese Wellington main was accompanied by perfect al dente spring vegetables. My husband and daughter raved about the summer fruit crumble. It is close to Canterbury and Sandwich. Every member of staff we had contact with was helpful and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Classic pub /restaurant with separate hotel building in rural surroundings.Good food and friendly staff - good for a short stay and within five minutes of Canterbury. Easy location and on road to Sandwich and other resorts. Good parking arrangements. Comfortable rooms Well worth a stay..

Have just returned from a two night stay at The Evenhill whilst in Canterbury for our daughter's wedding.
The staff were first class. Really friendly and helpful.
All areas were very clean and very well maintained.
Our room was a good size and had everything we needed. The en-suite bathroom was more than adequate.
Several members of the family met up for lunch in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, especially our daughter who ordered steak and was very impressed when it was cooked exactly as she had ordered - medium rare. It usually comes overdone, but not this time!
I have no hesitation in recommending The Evenhill.

We stayed here for 2 night in February 2012. The rooms are set back from the road and pub which is very peaceful. Ollie showed us to our room and was very polite and helpful. The room was a nice size and clean. Good location for Canterbury and surrounding areas. Staff in the pub/restaurant were all very accomodating. Would definately recommend and stay again.
PS Breakfast was excellent

Very friendly, welcoming staff, very clean accommodation, quite noisy overnight, as could hear next doors loo flushing and 'slamming of doors'. Have definately slept on better mattresses, but was good for the price. Had dinner in the restaurant-excellent! absolutely faultless, reasonably priced too for what I would class as 'french gourmet cuisine' but there were more traditional options. Would definately stay again.
