Fish cakes were amazing. Service was friendly but efficient. Good value for money. Would visit again.

“nice food and a certain charm”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

we came here for dinner with a group of 7 and had no problem booking a table. this is a country pub with all the charm which comes with it. the upstairs dinning area is in an original feature part of tge building, as the majorly sloping floor shows!the food here is traditional pub food with a few fancy extras thrown in. while the menu is not huge it had something for everyone. the food took a little while, but when it came it was fresh and delicious. a huge thumbs up to the chef!sadly our meal was let down by the service. for a fairly pricey meal a decent wait service would have gone along nicely with the food! service was slow, the orders were not quite right (for one thing we ended up with 8 mains). the waitresses however were also miserable and even getting some water seemed an inconvenience... real shame this left a dark cloud over our meal.

“Nice Carvery.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

I had sunday lunch here and was very happy. I was in a group of three and the other two people I was with have been before and think it is one of the best carverys and places to have sunday lunch in the area. They live in Deal so they are travelling a reasonable distance for a sunday roast. The service was good and the carvery was too. Everything was hot and the meat was tasty. I have no complaints and at £ 9.90 would definitely return.

“Good food, decent prices, in 16th century restored barn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

This pub offers a good range of food at very decent prices. The wild boar sausages were delicious, as was the pigeon breast and black pudding starter. My husband was perfectly happy with his veggie burger and chips.
The entrance is to an unremarkable bar, but the restaurant is at the back in a 16th century barn, which has been sympathetically restored, with exposed beams and brickwork. Lovely!
