We have used Mainsfield many times and although not visited for a few years nothing has changed, standards are excellent as are the hosts.
The views are stunning especially from the front bedroom which has a four poster bed.
Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, yogurts or cereal, full english breakfast etc.
Nothing is ever too much trouble.

Room Tip: All rooms are good quality obviously the best view is at the front.

We stayed here for 5 nights, and having had a friendly exchange of emails while booking, were not disappointed by the warmth of the welcome from Jen and Cavan. The house is full of history, and because it is so solidly built, the rooms are quiet, with no noise from other guests. We stayed in the large four-poster room at the front of the house, which is spacious, with plenty of storage and hanging space, and a big bathroom - all spotlessly clean and delightfully furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the huge windows look out across the valley to the hills - stunning views. If you are easily woken, bring eyeshades, as the curtains don't keep out much light (but this is common to many places). Breakfast was very good quality and to my delight green tea was available. The only (very slight) niggle was that, being vegetarians, we only had a choice of the non-meat options from the full breakfast - veggie sausages are easy to come by these days and would have been welcome. All in all, one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in, and we would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front are large and have superb views.

We stayed here back in 2005 and had not been able for many reasons to revisit until now. The owners of this big old house are like old friends, but more than that without being intrusive, ready to advise where to visit or how to get there, the rooms are perfect and suit us - all are ensuite and very clean and comfortable with tremendous views, the BREAKFAST is a delight and superbly cooked and I think will suit all palates; for dining close by, there are many options, The Harts Head Hotel steaks and fish are super, or just the local Fish and Chip Restaurant which does more than just fish and chips but very well cooked and with very good service, many more places to eat if we had only had the time..... We will be back and sooner than last time

Room Tip: All are good but those on the east side have magnificent views over the dales, the four-poster room...

We have visited this area many times and always stay at Mainsfield. A fabulous detached house with wonderful views across the valley and over the rooftops of Settle, it is situated on a quiet road with ample parking and a very warm welcome. The house is full of character and was visited by Elgar who played the piano in what is now the dining room. Each room has individual character, spotlessly clean and spacious. We have visited as a family and as a couple and stayed in different rooms, all of the same immaculate standard. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. An easy walk into Settle for dinner or to the pubs in Giggleswick, and a pool table or fire in the lovely sitting room to come back to. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast with good choice and nothing too much trouble for the owners to manage. A great place to stay!

Room Tip: Two great double rooms at the front of the the house with fab views

We had a one night stopover here and were wholly delighted with the place. Our hosts were extremely pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. The best place to get a carry-out (the local garage), the best takeaway and directions to the best pub/restaurant (The Harts Head Inn) was given without asking.
The whole place was spotless. The room was extremely well appointed, as was the bathroom, in the evening the fire was stoked up in the residents drawing room and glasses etc were laid out waiting in case we brought back a bottle of wine.
Breakfast was ample and well thought out.

I arrived in the dark, not knowing what to expect, and was delighted by the interior and the welcome of the owners. I had a very pleasant evening sitting in the lounge by the stove; a comfortable night; and after a good breakfast, a fine walk in to Settle railway station. An excellent place to stay, thank you.

My partner and I stayed two nights this weedend, we had a lovely stay. The owners are friendly and they make an effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The house is full of period features, open fires, great windows, big rooms, we loved it. If your looking for soulless modern/boutique type of accomodation dont bother, if you want a house that hugs you then your in the right place.
The breakfast was really great, and lots of choice. If you like a big (and I mean big!) breakfast, your in the right place, great if your walking, cycling etc.
Our room was large, lots of coat hangers, lovely fireplace, four poster kingsize bed and nice large bathroom, all very clean.
The hotel is 5 mins walk from Giggleswick village where there is a lovely pub (The Black Swan) also shop and church. Settle is around 10/15 min walk with plenty of shops, restaurants etc.
