“Fantastic Pub ..Great Food ..Wonderful Landlord”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

I highly recommend the Black Horse at Giggleswick, the food is first class, the welcome is friendly and the atmosphere is of a traditional Yorkshire Pub.

As for the previous comments of an abusive landlord, after being unable to open the front door; I was in fact a guest that night. When these residents came back , very 'worse for wear' and could not use a front door key, despite each key having a fob stating front door...Indeed it is not rocket science. The issue was that they then hammered the door loud enough to wake every guest and half the locals. Their vocals could be heard throughout the Yorkshire Dales !! I was up for breakfast when they were greeted with a friendly smile from the landlady , but they refused to eat and left hanging their heads. Their loss they missed a hearty, delicious breakfast!

I can only reiterate what a quaint, homely and high calibre establishment this is!!!! 10/10

Wonderful little b&b, Vinnie and Rod cannot do enough for you. The food is amazing, I'm sure I didn't eat steak and ale pie two nights on the bounce (extra few miles run tomoro), breakfast fab, infact everything just fab. Beer was great (apparently, but his master says it was so there!!). We had a really good time and cannot wait to go back. A big thank you from Paul and Sue in Wirral.

Had our evening meal here, twice! The food scrumptious, and plenty of it. The welcome from the friendly staff was great. The place was obviously kept very clean and tidy, I wouldn't fancy the job though of cleaning all the brass! The last time we came here was 33 years ago when my lasting memory of it was a room with car wallpaper, like my grandson has in his bedroom. Things have moved on since then. The food was all freshly cooked and I had the very best steak and ale pie in the world, it was packed full of meat and was delicious. I'd recommend anybody to go there. We did the monthly quiz there, not one of our successes, but who cares when you get pizza and chips for supper included in the entrance fee of £1 per person. The pizzas are also scrummy. A gem in the Yorkshire Dales.

Had a flying lunchtime visit on our way back home from a camping holiday near Settle. Took advantage of the glorious weather and sat outside with our dog in the small beer garden. Very good service, great food - just a shame I couldn't take advantage of the beers! Lovely small village with excellent playing fields and children's play area.

Recommended by friends, we ended up eating 3 times at this wonderful pub. I must say 12 out of 10 comes to mind. The food was out of this world. The welcome by Vin the landlord and his staff was 1st class. Nothing was too much trouble, a taxi was arranged for us and on our 2nd visit Vin even walked us via a shortcut to the station. A must visit place if you are in the area.
