Ate here recently for the first time in years and was pleasantly surprised by the surroundings, service and quality of the food so much so that we will eat here again soon. The food was all home cooked and the quality and quantity was fist class. If you want an authentic country pub with good food look no further.

Just got back from a wonderful 2 night break at the Blacksmiths Arms! Claire (the owner) and her family are an absolute joy to be around!! We were warmly welcomed and shown to,our quaint, comfortable and very clean room at the front of the pub! We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at Sandburn Hall, which is just a 5 minute drive away.
The food is amazing! Superb home cooking and all done by Claire herself! We had the best breakfast and Sunday lunch ever! The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the lovely historic city of York is just a ten minute drive away. Thank you Claire! We'll be back soon!

Room Tip: Our room was lovely, but it only had a shower, I would ask for a room with a bath on our next visit!

Having been many times here, it has never disappointed and is always first class in everyday.

It is definitely the best place in the area and we would recommend to anyone who wants a great rural pub experience.

The food is plentiful and expertly prepared and staff friendly and welcoming.

My husband & I recently stayed here for 3 nights. I would highly recommend it. There's a lovely friendly atmosphere & the pub has so much character. Owner Claire made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble Our room was at the front of pub, it was very clean & homely with quaint little windows over looking the green. The views were picture post card, especially in the morning with the early morning dew still on the ground. Fantastic food is also served in the pub restaurant with a great choice on the menu. We booked in for Sunday lunch along with our 14 friends who were staying in nearby lodges. It was one of the best roast dinner's we've had. Overall I would give this five stars, really good value for money. Can't wait to go back in summer.

Had a lovely meal here with my wife. Lovely country pub, cosy, warm and excellent pub food. Steak was excellent and cooked exactly as requested. Also very good Theakston beers on, which is always a plus.

We went to the pub for an evening meal and cannot fault the food and friendly servic
Four stars instead of five because the music was too loud, unsuitable and intrusive. The pub has a great atmosphere without the music.
Turn down the volume to make the experience perfect please.
