We visited this establishment on Saturday the 12th of November 2013. We camped in Baviaans the previous night, and was told by friends that this is the place to get a nice Breakfast. We were a group of 15 people. The welcome that we got was: 'Sorry, the group is to big, we cannot seat all of you and you will have to wait a LONG time for your food. It was VERY cold and windy outside. Some of our group that arrived before us got seating at one table. We hanged around a bit and then one of the KITCHEN STAFF told us there is seating at the back in on the little patio, It was too windy and cold to sit on the front stoep. We went through the kitchen and sat at a lovely table at the back that was protected from the wind. We ordered some beverages, but the Manageress came out AGAIN and told us if we want to order any food we will wait very long. Her attitude was not good at all. So we had our coffee and we left. By the time we left the place was EMPTY!?? That was 25 min later?? What an income they missed out on? Brunch for 15 hungry people??

The N9 does not offer many attractions so a short detour into the little town of Willowmore is well recommended. You will find Sophie's Choice in the Main Street and can be assured of a warm welcome by Sophie and her staff, with a blazing fire in winter. For breakfast or lunch, or any time between you will find a good variety of tasty dishes and a totally unexpected "wow factor" in the middle of the Karroo. Browse through the antiques and crafts while you wait for your meal and/or enjoy the company of locals and fellow-travellers imbibing the atmosphere of this quaint locale.

Driving into Willowmore from Steytlerville at lunchtime, we were on the lookout for a bite to eat and happened by chance to find Sophie's Choice.

What a find! A small intimate sitting area with a roaring fire (it was cold outside), starched linen, silver cutlery, and superb homemade rustic food with a beautiful touch - all in all it was an excellent meal at a very good price.

We will be going out of our way in future to stop at Sophie's as it is probably the best restaurant within at least a 100km radius.

We look forward to our next visit...

It was bitterly cold ,and raining ,and we were on the road since daybreak,so feeling hungry,we stopped over in Willomore for lunch, and on recommendation ,entered Sophie's .it was a step back in time. Fabulous white dresses in lace, and ART DECO stuff ,displayed everywhere set the scene
But it was the fire in an old iron Victoria fireplace and well laid tables that attracted our attention..so we settled near the fire .
The service was warm and attentive and soon I tucked into 4 Karroo lamb chops grilled to perfection, whilst Suzanne enjoyed her home baked chicken pie...very surprised at the quality of the food and service.....we will not hesitate to eat here again ,when we return to the Karoo.

We stopped for breakfast and lunch on two occasions, Sophies's Choice opens early which helps and at each occasion had friendly service and a nice meal including good coffee. The restaurant also has an small antique shop attached.
A lovely restaurant to stop at if your travelling past Willowmore.
