The Hind's Head pub is a great B & B in a village setting. Great atmosphere, old world charm with all the mod cons. We could not fault it! Lovely room, we stayed in one of the "cottage" rooms which was charming. Staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. Breakfast was superb, good choices and the Full English was very good. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The Hind's head is a pleasant pub run by a big brewer in the very pretty village of Aldermaston.
The room's are comfortable if uneven, and suprisingly quiet for being right by the road.
Free wifi is nice, but quite restrictive - Web worked, but none of my VOIP or similar did.
The food in the pub is good quality pub fayre, although no different to what you'd find and most up-market big chain pubs.

Staff are always very friendly.

Prices often seem a little high for a pub stay, but it seems there is a lot of demand around Reading and Aldermaston.

Don't stay (or at least call ahead) if you have mobility problems. Lots of stairs, (including within some rooms), lots of uneven floors and ceilings.

Room Tip: Basic rooms are well furished, but pretty cramped. Premium rooms have a little more space.

Staying in Reading and couldn't find anywhere in the centre that was less than £100 and didn't look like I would have to sleep with one eye open and a heavy object up against the door !, So expanded the search to a little bit outside Reading and came across the Hind's Head and I'm really glad I did, I may very well stay more often if it continues to live up to the experience so far. I was welcomes like I was a regular, it was explained that it was quiz night in the bar and I would be more than welcome. I was then shown to my room, which was the single room peoiple have complained about it being very small and yes it is but its a single room what do you expect, what do you need ?. Its functional, clean and well equiped. No complaints from me. I have also seen on here that people have complained about wifi, however again no issues and completely free.
The food in the Bar and the Restaurant are the same and again very good and reasonably priced. I had the Pasta and it was lovely and the whole place had a really exceptional atmosphere.

What a find! We came over from France for the weekend and found the perfect place to stay! Shaun and Sue have made the Hinds Head a truly superb Country Hotel/Pub. This is the sort of place that Americans would cross the Atlantic for. Everything about it says "English Country Pub", from the old butchers block in the corner, to the carved gargoyles that look down behind the bar, the place is just full of wonderful features. With real log fires you can while away your time in the bar or relax on a sofa in the cozy "snug" Our bedroom was decorated in a style that perfectly matched the age of the building yet had a modern en-suite bathroom. We had a wonderful meal from starter through to dessert, delicious, a real treat. All of the staff were fantastic and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
If you are looking for a "Country Pub" experience try a weekend at the HInds Head.

Stayed here weekend of 15th-17th November and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The pub/bar is very cosy, especially the 'Village Bar' with it's open log fire. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it! Rooms were very nice, with incredibly comfortable beds. We both slept like logs! All in all a great stay and we'll definitely be back!

We stayed for two nights either side of a wedding. The pub was very busy but the staff coped very well both at supper and breakfast time. The breakfast, I thought, was a very good 'Full English' though there were other choices including Eggs Benedict, and the evening meal was of a good pubby standard.
Our room was a little noisy as it overlooked the roundabout. To my mind the room needed updating but was clean and comfortable. The shower room was adequate though the shower itself was a bit feeble (an electric inshower unit).
Overall, a good stay in an unpretentious pub with rooms and the staff were cheerful and helpful, throughout.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms overlooking the road
