Stayed here on the first day of the Chiltern Way cycle route. It is a perfect place if you intend to cycle about 50-70 miles a day - cutting the route into three sections - and if you start from Princes Risborough - it is right on the route. Arrived slightly earlier than expected but it was no problem for Kath. She provided safe storage for my bike, offered me tea and was so friendly - asking me about my day and chatting about her lovely garden. My room was lovely and clean - fresh milk, biscuits, hot chocolate all provided. The bathroom was just up the hall (I didn't have the ensuite room) Nice shower gels and fluffy towels. The shower was good too! Good friendly pub just round the corner for an evening meal. I didn't opt for the cooked breakfast - but another guest did - and it looked very good. I like the fact that we had a cafetiere of proper coffee, grapefruit, quality muesli and fresh uncut bread. Met Roger in the morning and had a lovely chat with them both. They really do make you feel at home! A fantastic place!

Thank you Tanya for your great review. It was lovely meeting you and hope the rest of your trip was enjoyable and you were not too 'saddle sore' at the end. Kind regards Roger & Kath

Stayed with Kath and Roger for two nights and must say that they set the standard by which all future b&b's will be measured. A warm welcome doesn't come close to what was bestowed on me. And rather than it feel forced, the welcome I got was genuine.

The rooms, on the top floor, is ensuite and whilst compact the bedroom and ensuite, never once did it feel cramped.

I've largely stopped using hotels. For the most part they're impersonal and I feel just like another number; for b&b's is where it's at and at The Old Forge, I've found ahome away from home - to me this is uber positive.

To Kath and Roger, if you're reading this I do hope I return some day soon, you offer a wonderful haven whilst away from my home and Kath, you have the most beguiling smile.

Thanks to you both.

Room Tip: I had the room with the ensuite which I prefer.

Roger and Kath are welcoming, friendly and accomodating (we kept delaying our arrival time and Kath was still friendly and welcoming at almost midnight having had to wait up for us). They are helpful without being interfering, and allow you into their home without you feeling as if you're intruding. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and delicious, there's a pub with excellent pub grub just up the road. The room is beautiful and so comfortable (massive bed, springy carpets, soft towels) with lovely touches like nice shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom.

Room Tip: the upstairs room (Arthur's?) was worth the extra cost I think as it's got lovely views and...

We stayed for one night for a family wedding. Kath and Roger were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean and tidy and well equipped. We stayed with our 16 month old daughter and we were able to fit in our travel cot too. Breakfast was good and it was nice to be able to spend some time in the beautiful garden. We would definitely recommend others to stay and would be very happy to stay here again in the future. Thanks again for a very warm welcome!

We have just spent two nights at The Old Forge B & B and could not ask for more. Kath and Roger were delightful hosts and catered for our every need. They were most helpful answering our questions while we were still back in NZ as well as giving us helpful hints on things to do while staying with them. Their home is perfectly presented both inside and out. It was a pleasure to sit outside and admire their lovely garden. Kath's great breakfast set us up for the day. Vivienne R

Room Tip: We enjoyed a great meal at the local pub a few minutes walk up the road.

When someone tells you they have booked you into a bed and breakfast....this isn't the type of place you expect to find.

Luton conjours up grim little terraced houses with dirty net curtains and mould in the corners.

With the old forge you get exactly the opposite...infact its more akin to being a country b and b....maybe its just unfortunate it comes under a luton postcode.

So....the details.... super appointed room....off road parking and really really nice homely owners.

Lovely gardens if you fancy a sit down with a brew too.

Breakfast was just spot on too...local produce cooked fresh.

So if luton and the surrounding areas is on your travel agenda....ditch the corporate places....and try the old forge!

Any questions about local facilities or directions, all helpfully answered. To sum up, it is a lovely place run by lovely people, where nothing is too much trouble.
