Grim food. .unless all you want is cakes .. sliced bread sandwiches and ready made fillings . Nasty Formica tables and plastic chairs. . No wonder it's empty !! .. very pleasant waitress .. but really .. could do better? ? Most certainly... in comparison to The Navigation at Cosgrave ... well no comparison.. Pity as it's a great location ...
Good Afternoon. We are really sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to our little café. We are very limited as to what we can do on site as we do not have a kitchen. We introduced sandwiches earlier this year and so far they have been very popular. We do strive to do the best we can on our little counter top :) We are hoping to do some refurbishments this winter. Thank you for the nice comment about your waitress and thank you for your feedback
Comprehensive showing of canal history with audio facility. No boats but plenty of documents, models and so on. Pretty good souvenir shop too.
Nice entertainment especially if you have kids, though maybe not too young. I can see that if not interested in canals boredom would soon creep in, but if they want to know more about why canals were built then this would be a good place to visit.
Never bothered before but this round we did visit the museum. It's not a big place by far but it does contains loads of displays and interesting facts. If you want to learn more about the UK waterways and the people this little place has it all.
Kate and I arrived here just after 10 am which was really too early as the place was not awake then. Nonetheless we had a wonderful, unhurried stroll around the basin reading the information boards and enjoying the beautiful spring morning. We then ambled along the canal to the tunnel entrance and back.Such a calm and peaceful walk.If you do not like crowds, this was the right place and the right time. And good, cheap car parking.
took a young person to this museum at his request and he was thoroughly fascinated with all of the exhibits and the walk along the canal side to see the locks in action
Glad your visit was educational as well as fun. If you need further inspiration for learning activities the Canal & River Trust have some wonderful resources if you visit their website - search learning and click on fun things to do https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/explorers - ENJOY
