The house was large enough for our extended family of 5 adults, 1 teenager and two 3 year olds; not sure if would have been so enjoyable with 10 adults!
The rooms were a decent size and everywhere was clean and recently decorated. However there was a very musty smell when we first entered the house and the kitchen cupboards smelt the same. The fridge is in a very awkward position behind the kitchen door. The outside area to the rear was attractive but too small to be comfortable and we never actually sat in it.
The location is ideal for the beach and is handy for the local shops. Newbiggin has quite a lot to offer: small supermarkets, local shops, Italian ice cream parlour and a very reasonable Italian restaurant which serves delicious food. At the end of the promenade is a new marine museum exhibition centre with a cafe . There are also three antique shops which had some great bargains!
There are plenty of attractions round about although some of the more popular places in Northumbria such as Seahouses and Bamburgh Castle are a fair distance by car.
I think Tahfay House was a little over-priced.
