We had a great midweek break! Caravan was a little small and could have been cleaner but was fine as there was so much to do that we were not in it much anyway. Good park, clean swimming pool and excellent entertainment for children throughout the whole day. The beach is nice and clean, great for rockpooling. The ice cream shop beside the beach sells everything you need for a great day on the sand - we bought a kite, fishing nets and bucket and spade and the ice cream was lovely. My 5 year old daughter absolutely loved her holiday and cried when we had to leave. We plan to visit again next year!

Room Tip: Choose a gold standard caravan or more as we stayed in silver and it was small!

Thank you for the review. I am sorry the caravan cleanliness was not up to our usual high standard, had you let us know we could have rectified that for you. I am pleased you liked our park and found the pool clean. It is great that you enjoyed the daytime entertainment. Our beach is stunning and great when you can rock pool. I am sad that your daughter cried when she had to leave but it is great that it is because she had such a great time!!
We all look forward to seeing you again next year and don’t forget to call our team on park who will book it for you at a great rate 01670 860411. Thanks again for the positive review.

A warm welcome from Darren on reception - very informative and explained about the temporary pool closure and alternative provision. As we used the site as a base during the day, we did not make use of the pool. Excellent location for Drurridge Bay with a lovely ice cream shop. On site the Nisa shop was well stocked (shame it didn't sell stamps-in support of local PO) We did a click and collect at Blyth ASDA which was 15 mins away. There is a closer Asda in Ashington, but they didn't have the collection facility. Noticed other caravan owners use the Asda and Iceland delivery service during our stay. Kids evening entertainment was appropriate for our 2 girls aged 3 and 5. Wes even organised an extra performance from "Sparkle" responding to the requests of some other families, which was nice. The entertainment team were lovely with the girls. The on site restaurant was busy but we did not eat there. We can not rec. enough "The Plough" in Ellington the neighbouring village. fabulous service, tasty menu and reasonably priced. Also we ate at the Brewers Fayre located next to Woodhorn Museum, which provide a budget menu and kids activities. Girls enjoyed the walk around the lake and the play area.

Our caravan (Silver Plus - 2 Dale View) was spacious, extremely clean and the fact that the bedrooms were separate was ideal once we put the girls to bed - meant we could chill with a glass of wine, chat or watch TV without the worry of disturbing them. Our caravan was 12ft wide and the extra space was ideal and had mountains of useful storage. The site was clean, plenty parking, bins however not so clear were any recycling facilities.

Our only grumble was the noise on an evening. Children of all ages (as young as 4/5) running around the caravans, often taking up position right outside our window as late as 11 o'clock at night; often waking our girls. Maybe a curfew of 9pm could be a potential park rule. Often the play area from tea time onwards was used by teenagers inappropriately and the disgusting use of bad language was uncalled for. We appreciate it is a holiday camp, however there seemed to be little consideration of others. We only used the play facility on one occasion for any length of time, as we didn't want our girls to become hurt through inappropriate play from others or be exposed to bad language. We have had many experiences of Park Resorts and this has not been an issue before. Cayton Bay is far more superior in this respect. This is a shame as on day 2 of our holiday we even visited the sales office with the intention of buying a holiday home as we fell in love with the area. However we quickly reconsidered as the noise described is far too off putting. We did mention it to reception, (Darren) who was apologetic and explained that's why they have security. Despite security it still remained a massive issue during our stay.

Room Tip: Silver plus caravans or Gold - for the extra space for a family. Ask to be away from the play area...

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review after your stay with us at Cresswell Towers. I am delighted that you received a warm welcome from Darren and he gave you all the relevant information for you to enjoy your stay. A lot of people chose to use our park as a base so that they can explore the wonderful sights and attractions Northumberland has to offer. It is fantastic to read your girls enjoyed the entertainment provided by Wes and the girls.
The extra space in the silver plus caravans is great and makes the accommodation far more comfortable. I am also pleased to read you found our park clean.
In regard to the noise we do expect parents to monitor where their children are at all times. Because our park is small, set away from the main road and is very safe and secure maybe parents let their children play out later than they would usually at home. We do find when the children are off school the park is more lively than out of season when the park is very quiet especially midweek. I am disappointed that this deterred you from thinking more about ownership and I hope that you would maybe visit us again off season to see the difference?
Thanks again for the review and we hope that you will continue to holiday with Park Resorts in the future.

I had a short stay at cresswell with just myself and my 2 children (13 and 9). Going on holiday on your own can be quite daunting, however i thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I have to say a special thankyou to the entertainment staff at the resort wich were second to none. My kids were never bored. Facilities were great and not to overpriced. My only complaint was that food took a long time to come out and the park could do with a small fish n chip shop or something so that a takeaway is easier and quicker. I will be booking again

We got a call the Friday morning as we were traveling to Cresswell, it started as a courtesy call then at the end they said the pool was not working but we could use the sister camp Sandy Bays pool 5 minutes drive away, the pool would be fixed Monday or Tuesday, the 5 minutes turned out to be 7. 8 miles away, not good with 3 children in the car and when we got there the pool was packed, but at least the site looked cleaner and tidier

Due to the pool not working they put on extra activities, 10am Walter walking on the pool which the children did one morning which they enjoyed
Football at 1pm which they turned up for to be met at the football area by dogs running around chasing a ball, kids on scooters and the mini bikes riding around, children around 12 years old smoking
Eventually at 1.20 the life guard who was taking the football turned up and the game got started, he wasn't the one in charge, seemed to be the the people who have caravans there as they obviously knew each other, complete disorganisation our grandchildren didn't have much chance to play as they were taken off on the sidelines while the dads and there children played

Next was rounders which again they turned up for but the children already kicking a ball around didn't want to play, after that we didn't bother going anymore

The worst bit was the restaurant, one person working at the bar but obviously didn't want to be there, eventually I placed our order went to get the cutlery which wasn't very clean the knives had dried food on, went back when they where putting more out, the barman was taking them out of a plastic tub filled with water that had bits of food floating in it and drying them, slightly off putting
I asked for napkins but was told they didn't have any as they had not come on the delivery!!!
The food .. Awful...my husband ordered scampi, the cheapest scampi ever was terrible but lucky for him he had a chicken nugget in with it which he enjoyed, my grand daughter had chicken nuggets but guess what she had a scampi on her plate lucky she didn't have a seafood allergy

Don't even bother eating there try the Plough Inn in the next village amazing service and very good food plus It didn't cost any more

Our silver caravan was average large enough for 3 children and 2 adults but not very clean old bits of food inside the cupboards and around the cooker, needed a good bleaching

But on a good note the children enjoyed the holiday the beach is amazing, the ice cream shop near the beach was good and also try the Drift Cafe 200 yards from the ice cream shop very good for lunch lovely home cooked cakes

Thank you for posting a review. I am delighted you found your accommodation nice and clean and you enjoyed the visiting cabarets. I am sorry it was a bit of a walk to the car park. I will certainly have a look at the possibility of more dart boards and another pool table.

We arrived on saturday and our caravan light wasnt working, our pull out bed had broken, no toilet brush, not enough plates, bowls, cups & cutlery & no bin! We have a special needs child so need accomadation to be clean and safe, went down to reception and got fronted with the receptionist Mel she is the most rudest women ive ever met she had a bad attitude after our complaints her response was "well you get what you paid for" she has no customer service skills and will loose alot of business for this resort as we will not be coming back and most definately not recommend to anyone to stay here, we had head of housekeeping come out to sort the pull out bed to tell us they will not be replacing it as they dont have any spare and we apparently didnt pay for it, she feed us a load of rubbish that was contradicting what the receptionist had said! Rude staff with bad attitudes, dirty in-equipted caravan, grounds are messy and club house is so small & frowsty you couldnt swing a cat in there let alone have an evening of fun and entertainment! Have sent an email to head office and surprise surprise no reply! Avoid at all costs its not worth the trip, holidays are meant to be relaxing and enjoyable not stressful and to confronted by rude staff who do not cater for special needs children!
