Me and a friend were walking the wall and made our last night stop at Harlow on Hilll very early. We decided to push on and called ahead to Ironsign to see if they had accommodation as we could not be bothered to camp on the last night. Considering the very last minute call (literally 1 hour) they were very accommodating and even split a double bed and made a twin room for us.
On arrival we were very pleased with the warm welcome and the quality of the room at a very reasonable price. It was lovely and large with a big bathroom and very clean with tea making facilities and a TV.
We were very hungry on arrival and the owner even gave us a lift into Heddon to enjoy the local Pub called the Swan, which served very nice food and good beer.
Breakfast in the morning was fantastic with a great selection of cereals, yogurt and toast followed by a lovely fry up!
I would definitely recommend!

Rather than yomp through Newcastle we decided to finish our Hadrian's Wall walk near Heddon on the Wall and looked forward to somewhere warm, welcoming, quiet, comfortable and where we could have a good feed and drink in celebration. We succeeded at Ironsign Farm on all counts.

Our rooms were spotless, spacious, very comfortable and quiet after the road noise which had been with us all the way from Chollerford. Our hosts Helen and Owen were very welcoming without being 'in-your-face' and really couldn't do enough for us. The atmosphere they created was lovely laced as it was with humour and efficiency.

The evening meal was very good indeed - all 3 courses of it with a good wine - as was breakfast. And finally, when we asked for a taxi firm's number to run us to Wylam station, Owen insisted on driving the 4 of us there himself. Unnecessary, unexpected, but very much appreciated. Thank you both for a lovely stay!

Walking Hadrians wall and reached Ironsign at the end of day four. We had a a family room for four and a twin. The place is really a big guesthouse rather than a farm though there are some sheep and cattle. Rooms were large and comfortable and the big bonus is that you can order dinner ahead and it is guaranteed to hit the spot after a long days walking. Decent wine can be got and its a warm and welcoming spot - especially when in a group. Owen does like to be paid in cash though

We felt welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. Our room was lovely, the host and hostess were charming, dinner and breakfast were delicious - fresh strawberries soaked in rum were the dessert the evening that we were there. The evening meal featured vegetables fresh from the garden. Perfect location on Hadrian's Wall Path. (Shaw party 8.13.12)

Scenic location, premises very clean, evening meal well prepared, breakfast good but not much choice.
Proprieter, Mr Little is blunt to point of rudeness and beware, if you stay there, you report any deficiency, damage or breakage immediately to him to make sure you do not get the blame.
