“Excellent B&B close to Rothbury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2013

Well worth the effort to find this farmhouse B&B. We arrived late on a flight to Newcastle and were welcomed with coffee and biscuits. Very peaceful despite the sheep being prepared for shearing season. Wonderful walks around the narrow roads and hills. Rothbury (2-3 km) also well worth visiting. Room very comfortable and a hearty breakfast was served the next morning.

We enjoyed a five night stay at Lee Farm. Susan made us feel very welcome upon our arrival, and thoughout our stay. Our bedroom was spacious, spotless, and well equipped. with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The breakfasts offered plenty of choice with cereals, and fruit, followed by a good hot selection. Both the breakfast room, and visitors lounge are very comfortable.
Being in a very rural position, makes for a really quiet and peaceful location, which we found most welcome. Within a short drive,[past some lovely scenery] there are plenty of places to enjoy a good evening meal. The Northumberland coast, Bamber Castle, Holy Island, and of course Gragside, are all within easy driving distance. Highly recommended

Firstly - this is nearer to Rothbury than Morpeth (I think that TripAdvisor sees things differently) so if you are thinking of going to Cragside (for example), Lee Farm is very close indeed.

Lee Farm is a beautifully kept B&B. We took over the three rooms on our visit so we had a good look in each of the rooms - all are very comfortable and beautifully decorated.

If you are looking for peace & quiet then this is the place for you. The excellent breakfasts set you up for the day and the calm of Lee Farm is the perfect place to recharge for the next day.

Cragside (National Trust - highly recommended) is very close to Lee Farm, Alnwick, Lindisfarne & Bamburgh (and much more) is in easy reach.

We will be returning, without as doubt.

Lovely farm house in a great farm, very pleasant owners. The best place to get out into the countryside, especially in spring. We had the chance to see the farming experts help the birth of a lamb and bottle fed one that needed extra care. Spacious rooms with views to die for! Good breakfast to gear you up for a day out in the Fresh air.

Perfect location for short breaks or family tours.
Lovely house and absolutely helpful family. Was a real pleasure to choose this farm.
Anyway seeing all the rewards for the breakfast i was expecting for some really extra but it wasn't.
I would recommend this farm to anybody who would stay in a quiet and reliable place.

myself and my mother stayed here at lee farm from thursday 4th to saturday 6th of april 2013.we shared the twin room named heather,we had a look at the other two rooms for guests and they look fine but i think heather is the best room, its a large room, with two windows and a good en suite with shower, toilet and sink.there is a tea/coffee tray and fresh milk outside the room in the fridge, also bottled local water.the room is tastefully decorated and has nice bedding and curtains etc there is a lcd tv on the wall so you can watch it while you sit on/in bed.a really good touch is the electric blanket on your bed! the landlady/farm owner susan gave us a nice welcome when we arrived and made us a pot of coffee with cake.the breakfast is very nice,i wouldnt say they were the best brakfasts ive eaten at a guest house but still very good, theres fresh fruit and also sliced fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, fresh home made bread, toast, tea or coffee, and cooked breakfast with thick tasty bacon!and free range eggs.the only three negatives i would say about staying here are,its fairly remote but this can be good too as its very quiet and relaxing.also the roads to get here/leave here are very potholed and there are some fords to cross, its not too bad driving in daylight but we didnt dare drive at night on these roads.the other negative is i couldnt get a mobile signal but again this could be a plus point as you dont get annoying texts and calls.value i think its a little overpriced £42.50 per person per night sharing a room,so it cost us £170.00 for two nights thats pricey, think susan needs to re think on the room rates.lovely stay though.very clean too.roger clarke harrogate april 2013

Lees Farm is off the beaten track and all the better for it. A picture-postcard farm surrounded by unspoilt countryside and stock-filled fields.

Your host Susan is welcoming and hospitable. For example, we were offered drinks and cake/biscuits on our return each evening. She has perfected both 'B's' in the B&B with a spotlessly clean and comfortable bedroom and a hearty breakfast featuring well-cooked fresh local food.

Our room was perfect for our family of four - which includes two children of 4&6. The dedicated guest lounge and dining room are as well decorated, furnished and maintained as your own home. The roaring fire was very welcome as the Easter weather was unkindly cold.

The farm is yours to explore and the kids had great fun exploring as well as seeing and handling the livestock.

From Lees Farm you are well placed to explore the major attractions Northumberland has to offer including Alnwick, coast and main National Trust properties.
