“Nice place but…”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

Nice cabins. Lots of space. Clean and comfortable. Frindly staff and good food.
But:
-There is a lot of noise from trucks and cars on the road during the night
- They advertise with WFI – but it is extremely slow and can only be used in the restaurant building.
- On our 19 days trip to Alaska this was the only place where they put an extra fee on the bill when you wanted to pay with a credit card!

Our DSL internet service is slow here but it is better than none. There is nothing we can do about the capacity of service provided by the ISP, we have the highest speed plan possible. There is occasional noise from the nearby highway, usually not in the evening hours. We charge a 3% credit card service fee that is less than the cost of acceptance. This is stated on our web page, on our menus and at check-in. Thank you for your understanding.

First impression was WOW...this place is soooo well kept and the scenery is breathtaking! Owners really take pride in their landscaping. Flowers planted everywhere! We found this place online with only 4 photos, so we didn't exactly know what to expect. We had two families, ages from 18 and up. Very active, love hiking and rustic camping. I would say this place is more of a "luxurious" type of camping. I walked around the whole camping grounds looking for a fire-pit to make s'mores and didn't find one..unless you're by the RV pad and use their little fire-pits. I can't stress enough about the cleanliness of the place...so clean and maintained. Which brings me to what upset us the most...

Just as we arrived, we went to check-in and were rudely greeted by the owner. Figures there was a miscommunication with the number of days we wanted to stay. After much frustration, she said she will not charge us for the extra day "we requested". They do not allow pitching tents on the perfect-green grass, and said we would have to pay $20/night per tent to pitch them on the gravel RV pad...100ft from the highway. Obviously, we would not agree to those terms. Over the phone, they already mentioned their policy regarding the tents...but we had no idea it was so close to the highway. So we asked what other place we can pitch the tents. The owner said, "I don't care WHERE, as long as its OFF my property, " and pointed toward the direction of the airstrip and the car junkyard. We found this quite insulting. This wasn't the last surprise. We were charged $199 per night for the premium cabin for 4-6 people and we stayed 2 nights....except we were charged $501. Where did the mystery $100 come from? Well figures...the $199 is standard for 2 people and every additional person staying was $10 more. So why list the 4-6 people? Anyway, it still doesn't make sense. Expect to pay more! Oh and my last surprise. Over the phone, they told me I better book right away because I was booking the last cabin. Well, throughout our whole stay there we were practically the only ones there. And they have about 15 cabins.. So I felt there was a little dishonesty there. Business tactics some may call that?

It's just the little things that can ruin the start of a fun family camp. We all were a bit stressed out and felt very unwelcome. I let one of the workers know that and only THEN did the owner come out and apologize. After that, she never spoke to us again. We didn't bother eating their food either. They do housekeeping and gave us clean towels once. And their sleep sofa looked like the linens weren't changed at all. We used our own.

Overall, we still managed to have a great time! We had to adjust a bit (no campfire stories or s'mores). We did some hiking, the nitro zip-line, and even the Nova White Water Rafting.
Will we come back...probably not! Just make sure you call and ask all the little details. Read the fine print ;)

Room Tip: For the premium cabin base price is $199 for 2 people and then every additional person staying is mo...

We were only here overnight but this group of cabins is set off the Glenn H`way with superb views from your cabin. The cabins were perfectly adequate, no hint of the backpacker here. We had both dinner & breakfast here served by very pleasant staff. the actual food was fine. Again the the only snag was having to carry the luggage some way as parking near to the cabin was not possible. A minor problem.

We stayed here May 25, 2013. This is away from the noise of the city and gives you a feel for the real Alaska. The cabins immaculate, lots of comfort appeal. The view of the mountains outstanding. Food great and staff very friendly. When in Alaska would stay here again.

Every cabin has a porch with a view of the surrounding mountains. It was absolutely breathtaking. The inside of our cabin was large and immaculate. There was no visible dirt anywhere, the bathroom was spotless, and the furniture was quaint. There's a sign by the shower telling you to wait an hour between showers if you want hot water for both. We did find this to be true, but you could have two warm water showers back to back.

The restaurant was good. For the most part, the staff was helpful. My only complaint is that we really needed to use a phone to call a number in Anchorage (our cell phones wouldn't work), and they didn't have one they would let us use, for pay or otherwise.

We've stayed here several times in both summer and winter and it is truly a great experience. The cabins are very comfortable and cozy and the kitchen is a great option with our 3 kids to provide them with a quick meal.

We love to sit on the deck and enjoy the amazing views and the staff is so friendly - our kids love the freedom of running around and exploring and enjoy playing with the local boys up there that are so friendly despite the seemingly lacking parental supervision.

As an Alaskan its a great escape from Anchorage, but if from outside, it is an amazing gem and I'd plan on staying an extra day here. Makes me want to quit my job and buy a lodge my self.

Oh and the food - incredible. Best soup and buns around.

Room Tip: Get the cabin with a kitchen if possible.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms where very clean and well keep. Overall the dinning area, bar, and other common areas where also well keep and maintained. Booking was simple and all staff was very nice and helpful. Food was good. They also have nice maintained trails in the winter and host several events for the outdoorsy type. I will most likely stay here again.
