“Great Service and Delicious!”
Reviewed 2 December 2011

We came to Punta for our first time and read great reviews about this restaurant. We were here just before the crowds started pouring in so it was way to enjoy the restaurant. The food was great - particularly the squid entree and the "Rotolo" dish. The service was amazing with small little extra touches showing up before and after the meal. Our bill was less than $90 US for an entree, 2 main dishes, 3 diet cokes and a dessert - so not bad at all. We would highly recommend this restaurant and hope to be back!

“Amazing food in an intimate dining experience.”
Reviewed 4 November 2011

One of our better meals during our Argentina/Uruguay trip. The service was exceptional and the food great. I bit off the beaten path, but well worth it.

“A must visit if you are near La Barra ! Fantastic food ....”
Reviewed 14 March 2011

We spent a few days in La Barra as part of our recent visit to Uruguay. We read the reviews of Al Forno and decided give it a try. We had a bit of difficulty finding Al Forno since it is a bit outside of La Barra but it was well worth our efforts. The food was superb and the restaurant itself is very cosy. Our waiter recommended a local 2007 Tannat wine from Bouza A6 (Montevideo) which was simply stunning when paired with the Lomo ( con hongos, papas y boniato y ensalada de rucula, aceitunas, panceta) My wife had the Brotola en caja de hierro, which she enjoyed very much. The presentation, the flavours, the hospitality of the staff and chef (Frederico Amandola Mastroianni) made the evening one we will not forget. You must dine here if you have the chance.

“Among the Elite Restaurants in the Entire Area”
Reviewed 21 January 2011

The stretch from Punta Ballena to Jose Ignacio, which encompasses Punta del Este, La Barra, Manantiales, and other areas, has dozens of good restaurants but only a handful of exquisite ones. Al Forno is in that handful. The owner/chef, Federico, is young but incredibly experienced, having run some of the best and largest kitchens on three continents and various islands. (His association with Francis Mallmann enabled this.) He has come home to Uruguay to create an intimate, tranquil space and serve the best food he can produce, which is world-class. The menu is eclectic, each dish a masterpiece. And Federico has attracted a service staff with world-wide, impressive experience. Overall, the dining experience at Al Forno would be hard to beat, anywhere. Don't miss it.

“Hands down the best place in punta del este!”
Reviewed 1 December 2010

Truly amazing. From the decor, service, the fung shui atmosphere to the quality and taste of the food, this place is a must. Feredrico the owner and chef has worked all over the world including south beach, the hamptons, Italy and France and his restaurant embodies the greatest aspects from all his world travelings.
