“Fast, fantastic food!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 via mobile

We went to the peacock on a hot day after a long walk, and it was just what the doctor ordered! Starting with a nice welcome, we had a drink at the bar then went to a table to eat. I had fish and chips, and it was divine! Not only did it come very quickly, but the batter was perfect, chips were crispy and peas were done just right. Overall, a fantastic lunch! Highly recommended.

Lovely little place in a beautiful setting. Warm welcome on arrival. We had a large room with four poster bed, seating area and large corner bath on the ground floor. Some of the décor was abit tired looking but the room was very spacious and accommodating. The bed was comfy with an extremely soft mattress which may not be everyone's taste. We had trouble getting the TV to work but to be honest we were not bothered as we went there to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The only downside of a room on the ground floor is that we could hear everything that was going on upstairs!
Lovely seating area outside with beautiful views. Perfect for enjoying a drink at the end of days walking. The hotel is in the perfect setting for walks and the hotel have maps available in the reception area as well as water dispenser, perfect for filling your water bottles for the walk ahead. The inside of the hotel is a little dark and dated. The fire looks like it would be perfect in winter though.
Our stay was a package that included a 3 course evening meal. Wide selection on the menu for all three courses. The food is of an extremely high standard. We had steak which was delicious although it did come with way too many chips!! Profiteroles for dessert were delicious. Breakfast the next morning was equally as nice. The only thing that would have been helpful was a menu as we were rather put on the spot when asked what we wanted. You cannot go wrong with a full English here though which was accompanied by plenty of toast!!
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

I've given this hotel five stars although in all honesty it's not a luxury hotel. What it is is a very friendly comfortable country hotel in lovely surroundings with excellent food. I stayed here in June with a group from the Midsomer Murders Society for its annual weekend convention. We've been staying here for several years which speaks for itself. This year I had a room on the first floor with a lovely view of countryside and a thatched cottage, the room was fairly bland but had everything you could need and a very comfortable bed. A barbecue meal was provided for us on Friday evening-delicious and frustrating, I just couldn't eat everything much as I wanted to. Breakfasts, as always were excellent. We were out all day Sunday, I would love to have sampled one of the Sunday roasts. Thanks Martin and staff for another very enjoyable weekend.

My and my girlfriend had a meal here Saturday night, I cant praise it enough the food was amazing cooked to perfection! Obviously an amazing chef, the ale was kept to an amazing standard and the service was very quick prompt and friendly without being intrusive. A massive thanks to Richard and the girls for making us feel so welcome and making it such a great evening! :)

My son and I recently stayed at this hotel again as part of a British F1 weekend package. Our twin room was very comfortable, but the 'decor' was a bit 'tired' and obviously a room still on the schedule for upgrading in my opinion. However, that did not detract from the overall opinion of our weekend as the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food plentiful and good - my only difficulty was choosing what to eat from the extensive menu for dinner each evening! Breakfast was cooked to order, apart from Sunday morning when we had a hot buffet laid out from which to serve ourselves. Again, there was ample choice for everyone and some lovely thick sliced seeded granary bread that had been toasted. Staff could not have been more helpful and were always smiling, even first thing in the morning - we had some fairly early breakfasts so we could get to Silverstone by coach for the day. There is some lovely countryside on the doorstep, but if you need a mobile phone or reliable and fast internet connectivity then you may be a bit disappointed. However, we both had a most enjoyable weekend here and when we left on Monday after breakfast felt we would love to return for another break sometime.

Had a lovely weekend in this inn. View from our window was lovely. Food was very good. We asked the hotel if we could change our room to one on the ground floor before we arrived and the staff were very happy to oblige. Would stay again.

Tucked away down a no through road in Henton is the Peacock Inn . The village is lovely and this hotel serves genuinely excellent meals from a very good menu . The rooms are comfortable and the staff really are a great team .Martin the proprietor is so helpful and nothing is too much trouble . We will be back !

Room Tip: I suspect that the ground floor rooms are cooler in summer.
